Focusing on developing students? ability in the academic writing, reading, listening and language skills required for study on academic programmes at Masters level this module will also develop students? research and critical thinking skills, as well as their spoken English language ability, necessary for academic purposes. In doing so, this module aims to contribute to raising student awareness of necessary English language skills needed in an academic context in order to be able to cope with the demands of a postgraduate programme.

It will specifically focus on developing students? ability in Summary, Evaluation, and Argumentative academic writing; as well as reading, listening, and language skills required for study on academic programmes at Masters level. It will also develop students? research and critical thinking skills, in addition to their spoken English language ability.

This module enables students to enhance their academic abilities - equipping students with the linguistic and academic skills necessary to perform confidently within their chosen discipline, whilst simultaneously encouraging effective independent learning.

Striving to foster the growth of a host of key skills, the Introduction to ILSC modules will help students to develop a range of academic and communicative skills all of which are essential in the preparation for success at a postgraduate level. Students will develop cognitive and practical skills.

Introduction to Management provides students with knowledge of the fundamental aspects of business and business management. It offers extensive considerations in terms of business planning, product marketing, managing people and the legal side of business. This module also focuses on change management, essential in an age of continual technological advances.

Providing an insight into the fundamental aspects of marketing and business strategy, this module offers extensive considerations in terms of the importance and associated issues relating to effective business marketing. It also covers the strategic considerations necessary for successful implementation and operation. The module aims to prepare students for a range of marketing and strategy modules in future years of study.

This module considers the historical development of people management and critically evaluates principal theoretical approaches to the management of people in organisations. A consideration of the importance of the organisational context is given. The module also discusses key concepts, theories and research and the foundations of the study or organisational behaviour and human resource management in such a way as to introduce students to contemporary issues encountered by human resource and operations managers.

This module shall help students develop a range of academic and communicative skills necessary for successful study at postgraduate level. Students will develop transferable communicative skills (written and oral), independent learning and responsibility for personal, academic and professional development are all focused on as well as the completion of the Swansea University Career Development Course.

The module provides students with a knowledge base and skill set required at postgraduate level to apply mathematical and statistical techniques in a Business context. To do so, it covers such topics as algebra, various equation formats, numerical techniques of differentiation, patterns and relationships and more.

The module provides students with the fundamental knowledge base and skills required at postgraduate level. The module provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge, understanding and application of critical thinking strategies and to understand the essential role these strategies play in the research process.
