Our higher research degree (MPhil/PhD) allows you to undertake rigorous and critical exploration of a specific area in accounting or finance under the guidance of an expert supervisor.Our MPhil/PhD programme involves producing a substantial piece of original work in your chosen field. Unlike taught courses, this degree emphasises independent research and an original contribution to knowledge. You will attend courses in your first year to develop the advanced research skills necessary to obtain a PhD and to facilitate the gathering, analysing and presenting quantitative and qualitative data for your specific work.Our supervisory team covers a broad spectrum of traditional accounting and finance topics, including banking, corporate finance, stock market performance, management control, financial accounting and reporting, with additional interests in areas including but not limited to regulation and governance, fine arts market, not for profit, ESG disclosures, fintech, accountability.
