It will help you develop the skills and knowledge you need to study for the full honours degree, even if you don’t currently meet the academic requirements.

You'll develop your study skills including academic writing and personal and professional development to start you off in the best possible way for your degree.

You will learn more about business in a global and national context, and approaches to leading and managing in organisations. The foundation year also gives you the ability to develop your analytical skills and learn how to incorporate data to add real value to achieve organisational objectives.

Once you’ve passed, you’ll be ready to start your accounting and finance course. That means your degree will take four years, or five years if it includes a work placement or a year studying abroad.

Course information

A foundation year provides the perfect environment to advance your academic abilities before continuing on to the full accounting and finance course. Key skills and knowledge gained during the year give you an excellent grounding and a wide exposure to a range of subjects within our triple accredited business school.

Decision making, big data, management... there’s more to accounting and finance than numbers. This course is designed to prepare you for studying our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree. By studying our full degree course, you’ll explore every aspect of the area and learn to support businesses across different sectors.

Career prospects

An accounting and finance degree can lead to a wide range of career opportunities with high pay and a high profile.

This foundation year will ensure you have the knowledge and skills you need to succeed in your full degree course. It will pave the way for your career in this sector, whatever your aspirations.

Graduates from our full degree have gone on to work for the likes of Deloitte, Experian, EY and KPMG.

You aren’t restricted to working in the finance sector though. Businesses of all types and sizes need people with strong management skills and a head for figures. You’ll also have the tools you need to set up your own accountancy firm.
