It’s such a lovely campus and good things going on at the bar and club - lots of events for societies and sport clubs and during freshers week! Everyone is so friendly and helpful, I just wish we were closer to the city rather than a £6 bus away.

Studying at Birmingham Newman University has been a really positive experience overall. The focus on student wellbeing and support services is also a big plus, especially during busy or stressful periods. That said, there are areas that could be improved. Because it’s a smaller university, facilities and resources can feel a bit limited compared to bigger institutions. There could also be more variety in extracurricular activities and societies to give students a wider university experience. Overall, it’s a great place to study if you value a close-knit, supportive environment, but expanding resources and opportunities would make the experience even better.

One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the supportive and engaging learning environment. Many of the lecturers are genuinely passionate about their subjects and approachable outside of class, which makes a big difference when you need help or want to explore topics more deeply. The range of resources available—such as libraries, online materials, and study spaces—also makes it easier to stay on top of coursework. Additionally, the social side of university life stands out, with a wide variety of clubs and societies that help you meet people, try new things, and feel part of a community. That said, there is still room for improvement. Communication can sometimes be inconsistent, particularly when it comes to timetable changes or assessment feedback, which can be frustrating. In some cases, feedback on assignments could be more detailed or returned more promptly to better support learning. Improving organization and communication across departments would enhance the overall experience and make it an even better place to study.

Seminars and group activities help me understand the lessons better, and the coursework is practical, helping me connect what I learn to real-life situations. I feel that the university encourages students to think independently and build confidence. Overall, I feel supported in my studies, and this has helped me grow both academically and personally. Even though my experience has been positive, there are some areas that could improve. Sometimes the workload feels heavy, especially when deadlines are close together. Communication about certain tasks or readings can be unclear at times. More career support, part-time job opportunities, and more flexible timetables would also make things easier for students. However, these challenges are common in most universities, and Roehampton still offers a good overall student experience.
