You’ll be taught to write for a range of different platforms, including newspapers, magazines, radio, television and mobile apps. As well as learning key writing skills, your degree will also teach you important skills such as interviewing skills, and how sports events fit into broader societal issues such as politics and national identity. As well as learning how to conduct a one-on-one interview, you’ll also learn how to conduct interviews at press conferences. Many courses will offer the chance to get practical experience as part of the course, which may include interviewing players and managers and attending press conferences. You’ll also learn how to write post-match reports quickly, and you’ll be expected to be attending sports events.
