Studying sound engineering

Sound engineering degrees focus on audio production in a creative blend of science and engineering. You’ll learn about sound creation and recording for various mediums, including radio, TV, music and live sound. You’ll develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills which allow you to create quality sound and learn about things like audio systems, studio production, audio installation, sound design and post-production processes. Most courses provide hands-on experience in labs and studios, giving you practice using industry-standard recording equipment, while an industry placement may also be integrated into the degree programme. Graduating with a sound engineering degree will open up opportunities on a global scale in sound recording, production and engineering roles.
