What students say about social-studies

Can’t believe I’m already in my final year of Biomedical Sciences at UEL . Feels like yesterday I was sitting by the riverside at Docklands during my foundation year, watching planes take off from City Airport, it was my little peaceful escape. This course has been such a blessing – from incredible labs and supportive lecturers to the Career Zone and Mental Wealth modules that gave me so much confidence . Being a Student Ambassador made my uni journey extra special (hello public speaking skills ), and the Indian Society always brought the most colourful vibes.. And the location? Perfect. Canary Wharf, the O2, Westfield Stratford – all just a quick ride away. Honestly, UEL has been a mix of learning, growing, and making unforgettable memories .

Chichester is a safe city/town. It’s got a really nice atmosphere to it but not the best night life. The university could do with more communication between courses, especially those in joint routes.

What students say about social-studies

Reflecting on my academic year so far, I can confidently say that university has been a great experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed my studies, and the overall atmosphere of learning has been both stimulating and engaging. One of the best aspects of university life for me has been the opportunity to socialize and form meaningful connections. The friendships I have made and the sense of belonging I feel have greatly enhanced my overall experience. Furthermore, I feel genuinely cared for by my lecturers. Their dedication and willingness to support students are evident, and it makes a significant difference in fostering a positive learning environment. From an academic standpoint, I have found it relatively easy to navigate and familiarize myself with the various systems and structures in place. The organization of resources and accessibility of academic materials have helped ensure that I stay on top of my coursework. Classes have been engaging, and I appreciate the depth of knowledge I am gaining. However, there are a few challenges that I have encountered, which I believe could be addressed to further enhance the student experience. One of the main drawbacks for me has been the food. While this may seem minor compared to academic concerns, the quality and variety of food options available could be improved. Proper nutrition is vital for maintaining energy and focus, and I feel that better options would contribute positively to student well-being. Another challenge I have faced is the academic pressure that comes with a demanding course. While I understand and accept that rigorous coursework is part of the journey, there are times when I feel emotionally overwhelmed. The guidance provided is valuable, but I sometimes struggle with approaching staff for help, as I worry that seeking assistance might result in receiving additional information that could add to my stress. This has led to moments where I feel like I am falling behind, even though I work hard to stay on track. Although the academic systems in place are helpful, they can also be quite complicated, making it difficult to always stay fully updated. A possible solution that could greatly benefit students would be the introduction of motivational talks or workshops. These could focus on success stories, opportunities available after graduation, and ways to maintain a balanced and positive outlook on university life. Having such sessions could help inspire students and create a more emotionally supportive environment where individuals feel encouraged to express their struggles and aspirations with their peers. Despite the challenges, I genuinely love my academic course. It is fulfilling and aligns with my interests and goals. However, there are times when I feel exhausted, as though I am constantly fighting hard but not always seeing immediate success. This can be discouraging, but it does not take away from my overall happiness and satisfaction with university life. One concern I have is that if I were to express feelings of stress or emotional fatigue, there is a chance that the response might be overly cautious, with staff prioritizing safeguarding measures. While it is essential to ensure students' well-being, sometimes all we need is a supportive conversation rather than intervention. Additionally, I believe there should be more structured systems that promote organization, guidance, and stronger friendship dynamics to help students navigate university life more effectively. In conclusion, my academic year has been a mix of fantastic experiences and inevitable challenges. While I appreciate the quality of education, the social aspects, and the support from lecturers, I believe that small improvements in student support systems, emotional well-being initiatives, and community-building activities could further enhance the university experience for all students.

What students say about social-studies

I like the location the university is in. I am a person that needs nature to relax, so I think that sussex is the right place for me. There are woods and fields near by and if you go into town there is a beach. Accommodations can be very old. I am in Norwich, in a flat with only girls which I am very thankful for. But I hear my girl friends in other gender mixed flats that they argue a lot due to messiness. This is just my opinion, but I feel that if there are more girls only flats, it would be a bit more easier to get along with each other.

Great university located in a beautiful coastal town. The staff are kind and supportive, and there to help students in times of need. The SU organises events which support students, like the free pantry on Mondays, where those of us who are struggling due to cost of living can take food for free . Additionally, there are many facilities, like the printing room and the MAC suite, which students can use to help them with their course work material. Overall a lovely place filled with amazing people, but awful prices. The campus art shop, while handy, has high prices and the canteen food is extremely pricey too. They also do not accept any cash, which can be a hassle.

Study spaces get very crowded and busy. However the facilities are always clean and nice. There is a lot of student support on offer and is advertised well. The location is very nice with loads of shops and cafes near by. Transport links are also very good.

Most of the uni staff go above to help students, many of them staying extra hours and using their free time and their own supplies to help. The worst part is that the uni doesn’t provide that much support so often you rely on the kindness of certain technicians and lecturers. XNor does uni check on some of the lecturers ability to teach and to keep the curriculum up to date (some courses unfortunately get lecturers that reuse the same teaching material for 5+ years - luckily this doesn’t happen that often)

What students say about social-studies

My time at the University of Gloucestershire, Oxstalls campus, studying for a master’s in Human Resource Management, has shaped my life in lasting ways. From day one, stepping onto campus felt like joining a professional, welcoming community where I wasn’t just a number but I truly belonged. I chose this course because I wanted practical skills for real HR challenges, and the teaching here goes far beyond textbooks. Lecturers share insights from their own industry experiences, making classes dynamic and relevant. Their support has helped me build confidence and bridge the gap between theory and practice. Campus life is genuinely uplifting. The facilities, including well-equipped study spaces and lively common areas, create an environment where you can focus, collaborate, and unwind. What stands out most is how approachable the staff and students are. It’s always easy to find a helping hand, whether you need academic advice, personal support, or just a friendly chat over coffee. This sense of community means that even on tough days, encouragement is always close by. I’ve grown in ways I never expected. Working on assessments, dissertation and participating in group assessments have all pushed me outside my comfort zone. The university nurtures both independence and teamwork, helping me learn to lead and collaborate more effectively. Feedback is thoughtful and constructive, it motivates me to keep improving, and I always know what I need to do to reach my goals. However, there is room for improvement. While there are some great events for students, master’s courses can sometimes feel a little isolated after class finishes. I would love to see more postgraduate socials, networking nights, and informal gatherings to help us connect. Extra sessions like guest lectures from leading HR professionals would make a big difference in preparing us for our careers. I also think career guidance tailored to master’s students would be invaluable, and more quiet study spaces for busy periods could improve the campus atmosphere. But what truly makes Gloucestershire special is the genuine care shown for student wellbeing. The university’s commitment to inclusivity making everyone feel welcome regardless of their background creates an environment where learning is enjoyable and personal growth is celebrated. Looking back, I am proud of the challenges I have overcome, the people I have connected with, and the knowledge I’ve gained. I would wholeheartedly recommend the University of Gloucestershire to anyone wanting an inspiring, supportive place to study. As I move forward, I feel confident and motivated, grateful to be in a university that invests in my future

Location: lots of the buildings are close together, easy to get to another lecture. Improvements: Bringing back the anonymous chat where u ask teachers questions throughout the lesson or just another way to be able to ask the teacher any enquires that is quick (not moodle though as everyone can see what u asked).
