Generally, the facilities on offer are well designed and accessible. The distance of the university from London makes it fairly attractive, and the campus is among the more unique offerings across the UK. I found some sports societies to be a little on the expensive side, and having had to commute for part of my time as a student, the student life aspect hasn't always been the best or most exciting.

I attend UOG Francis Close Hall campus and it's so incredibly inspiring. It's a great oldy-worldy historical site and it was really the deal-breaker for me choosing UOG; although my course mates and I were severely let down when we were told we would have to move to Oxstalls campus in Gloucester... we managed to get the union involved but only managed to get it pushed back a year for us, all new students in September for social science will be in Oxstalls and won't get to experience the beauty of FCH. Such a shame. Despite this, the facilities are amazing, staff are equipped with great knowledge and are all incredibly friendly. All students are friendly and light-minded, it's a great environment to study in and socialise. I commute so I cannot speak on the social side of student accommodation and/or going out, but as a commuter it meets all my needs! I really recommend studying here, the lecturers know what they're talking about, and are amazing at illustrating theories and concepts in ways that make sense.

Best aspect: amazing facilities, highly professional tutors and staffs, everyone seems to have good heads on their shoulders. High teaching standard and it's nice meeting people from other cultural settlements. Worst aspect: more of a recommendation, extracurricular activities to establish a better inculcation, especially for foreign students. For instance, city tour for foreign students, debates, sports etc, this will facilitate better friendship between students

The best aspect of my university experience has been the supportive learning environment and access to diverse academic and professional opportunities. The teaching staff are approachable and knowledgeable, and the university provides useful resources that help students develop both academically and professionally. Studying in a diverse community has also helped me grow in confidence and cultural awareness. The most challenging aspect has been balancing academic responsibilities with part-time work and managing living costs, especially as an international student. While support services are available, clearer guidance on financial support, employability opportunities, and tailored support for international students would further improve the overall experience. Overall, the university is a great place to study, and enhanced support in these areas would make the student experience even stronger.

Having partners like Rolls-Royce involved in our learning means we aren't just getting a degree; we’re getting a head start. ​Beyond the classroom, I’ve found the support here to be incredibly personal. With NSS scores consistently above 85%, you really feel like the staff know your name and care about your progress. Plus, living in award-winning accommodation has made settling into university life much easier than I expected. ​ ​Of course, there is always room to improve. To really reach the "next level," I'd love to see: ​Better Connections: Stronger physical and social links to make the walk between Kedleston Road and the City campuses feel more integrated. ​Global Reach: Continuing to push our research reputation so our degrees carry even more weight internationally. ​Smoother Admin: A more streamlined approach to timetabling and digital communication. ​Inclusive Socializing: More diverse, non-alcohol-based spaces that reflect our entire student community.
