What students say about radio-journalism

My favorite thing about Rave is how industry focused we are. Translating our work into the real world is discussed very often. We get talks from guests who have tons of insight and our tutors are also knowledgeable. In terms of improvement, Rave is lacking in the student life area. There are not many active societies and it can be difficult to meet people or create student lead events.

Best aspect is being so close to the city centre of Manchester. Worst aspect is there being no mixed accomodation to allow an easy way to chat to new people. Most people just sit in their rooms on their own

With the SMT once again announcing a detrimental restructure to the university, roughly around 300 teaching staff are being threatened with redundancies if they are viewed as not making a 'valuable' contribution to Goldsmiths. A vast majority of departments have been threatened with teaching and module cuts, including English, once again. It is ironic that they are saying they want to make back/ save around 20 million, yet they are looking to have an AI centre whilst neglecting the humanities departments that reside at the very heart of Goldsmiths. They do not have much care for practising free speech on campus as the SMT wanted to 'arrest' the group of us that had 1.) occupied a building on campus in protest against the way the university has conducted their weak response to the ongoing genocide in Palestine and 2.) those that actually took part in the protests that occurred on campus. How can you label your university as a 'creative powerhouse' and a 'melting pot' of ideas when you've conducted yourself in such a backward manner? The welfare team has little regard for you. I had applied for a hardship bursary, yet I was met with a foodbank voucher that could only be used on the week it was issued and for a place that was miles away from accom and only open for 4 hours on a Friday. Do not come to this uni if you are seeking a place that values academic integrity and the preservation of your course; alongside your welfare as a student. It's a shock that they can even call themselves an institution.

The best parts of my university experience have been the modern facilities, supportive staff, and great location. The campus looks welcoming, and the student union offers plenty of societies and events, which makes it easy to get involved. However, it could be improved by offering more affordable food options on campus and extending library opening hours during exam periods.

The best aspect of my university experience has been the practical and future-focused nature of my course. Studying Managing AI in Business has helped me understand how AI applies to real business problems, which aligns well with my background in accounting and my career goals. I also appreciate the supportive lecturers and the diversity of students, which makes discussions more insightful and global. However, one area that could be improved is communication and organisation around assessments and feedback timelines, as clearer guidance would reduce student uncertainty. Additionally, more hands-on workshops, industry guest speakers, and career support specifically for international postgraduate students would enhance the learning experience even further. Overall, it is a good place to study, especially for students interested in combining business with emerging technologies, but stronger academic support and more practical engagement opportunities would make it even better.

The focused student support is what makes it stand out. Because in the university there are not a lot of students and attention of the professor doesnt get divided. You can get personalised guidance and this thing is gold to grab more and more opportunities in your career.
