The campus is easily accessible by bus and also offers a car park, getting to campus is so easy and convenient and the area is a lot quieter as it’s not central, they offer an app where you can earn points when you buy from the food places in the uni the points turn into money which u can then spend, the thing I found the hardest was getting around I would’ve enjoyed a tour on my first day it would’ve made me feel less nervous but the people at reception are happy to help the support from my lectures especially my personal tutor has been amazing I couldn’t have picked a uni more convenient for me.

Derby Uni is actually a really good place to study. The courses are super practical, so you’re not just sitting in lectures all day—you get real hands-on experience, which makes a big difference when it comes to jobs. A lot of courses have placements and work experience built in, so you’re not just thrown into the deep end after graduating. The facilities are pretty impressive too. Depending on what you’re studying, there are things like a forensic house, proper healthcare training rooms, and high-tech engineering labs. The campus is modern and easy to get around, which is always a bonus. One of the best things, though, is the support. The lecturers actually care and are really helpful, plus there’s loads of career advice and mental health support if you ever need it. Derby itself is a decent city for students—cheaper than a lot of places, but still with enough going on. And if you fancy a break, the Peak District is right there for a bit of adventure. Overall, it’s a solid choice if you want a uni that helps you get ready for the real world.

I'm an optometry student entering my third year in September 2024. The lecturers are very nice and supportive; however, the optometry students in Group C are extremely rude, disrespectful, and lack any sort of manners. Many of them speak poorly of you if you fall behind or are slow in your routine, and they refuse to collaborate despite knowing that practice is essential for skill improvement.

the location is very convienient and is very close to many shops. However the Hallam Help Desk is not very convinient and only give info that can already be found or a number that says info already on the site(s). However the teachers are helpful at saying where to get help and request specifics. The lessons are also nice as they allow conversations between the class about the subject and leszon along with help from the teachers.

What makes my uni a great place to study is their student support. They try to help their students in any way possible to ensure that students get the best out of their education. I think it would be better if the university put more effort into societies and clubs such as sporting clubs and teams . It would help the university to have more of a community and really showcase other talents other than what students already study on their courses. My university do have societies and some sporting teams, however some of the societies don’t run anymore and it’s not made to be as big as it was when I first heard about it before I joined uni. I think it’s important to have that feel of community and university culture and to also show the inclusiveness of different cultures, groups and activities in which people associate them selves with.

One of the best aspects of the campus is the overall campus location and how everything is evenly placed. Also, the facilities, such as the library and Canvas, are of great support for a healthy studying environment. However, some places for improvement could be a big relief for students. 1) An on-campus A big cafeteria, like a mess kitchen, would be a great addition where students can easily find multiple meals for lunch and dinner, which could be affordable and with a great variety in the menu. 2) A shop or a small supermarket where groceries can be easily accessible so that students living on campus don't have to go through the hassle of going to the city centre for basic things.

Public relations (PR) is often studied alongside other subjects like marketing, advertising or media. During a PR degree, you’ll develop an understanding of how to communicate on behalf of an organisation to a target audience, preparing effective messages and choosing the appropriate PR channel. You’ll learn about safeguarding and improving an organisation’s reputation and brand, covering everything from crisis management to creative skills. As well as learning theory, you’ll be able to hone your PR, marketing and communication skills through practical experiences like work-based projects and placement opportunities. The PR landscape is ever-evolving as social media continues to overtake traditional media platforms as the preferred method of communication for organisations. As such, newly skilled PR professionals are more in demand than ever. You could work in a variety of PR, marketing and communications roles as a graduate.
