The best aspect of my uni experience has been the overall environment and support at Sheffield Hallam. The facilities are modern, easy to access, and generally well-maintained, which makes studying and completing practical work much smoother, I am mostly in city campus and it has a good look and feel, it’s welcoming, easy to get around, and the location is great for getting around the city. I do prefer collegate campus right by eccy toad perfect pocation and by endcliff park its really nice to walk around and quiets the mind when having a busy day. Student support has also been a strong point staff have been approachable and helpful when you need guidance, whether academic or wellbeing-related i personally love yoga foe welbeing on a wednesday is a awesome opportunity and sometimes the offers at the gym are good. Student life is lively sometimes it can get overwhelming, and theres usally stuff going on if you want to get involved, hallam nation and GIAG sessions and more with the SU. I think the SU now moving away from the hubs is such a shame it was a really nice place and having the shop stage bar and pool they had everything and I used it frequently, maybe a SU building between the 2 campus or at both could be great more focus on collegate campus would be nice as in more stuff happening there and maybe an SU there could be good. My overall experience has been positive, and SHU is a great place to study with plenty of support and a friendly atmosphere and nice facilities.

Based on my time here, the University of Huddersfield is an excellent choice if you're looking for a career-focused degree and a supportive learning environment. The standout feature is definitely the teaching quality, backed by the Gold TEF rating, as nearly all my lecturers were genuine experts who were passionate and approachable. The modern, compact campus is a big plus—everything is central, from the state-of-the-art library (great during exam season!) to the specialist labs, and the fact that Huddersfield itself is a really affordable student town makes a huge difference. While the local nightlife might not rival a big city like Manchester, the focus on practical skills, the strong emphasis on industry placements, and the overall sense of community made my experience highly rewarding and put me in a great position for my career.

City campus in the heart of the city easy to get too and lots of places in the city to have fun. The teachers give a lot of support during lessons and outside. Classes are detailed and focused on our understanding. The students are all friendly and help eachother.

At a PGR level, it is more autonomous, but it is still quite a cohesive experience if you choose to engage. The uni does well for the course, there is a direct connection to industry and affinity towards making it practical. The student support could be enhanced especially at a PGR level. It's less cohort and needs more attention at a more unit-level, which I imagine is difficult to engage. It is a halfway house between student and staff, so a bit more attention to either side (or preferably both) would really enhance the experience.

I am working full time and Currently studying a HNC in Business, at the University centre Wakefield. I was Originally only going to do the HNC but I have found the staff all very helpful and easy to get along with, you are treated like an individual and the tutors always make time for you, if you went to a big university you wouldn't get this.So I have decided to do the HND and the top up degree also The bonus with the tuition fee's is also very good as I would be paying 9000 a year to do the same course at a big University. I would recommend University centre Wakefield to anyone :-)

Best aspects: One of the best things about my experience at York St John has been the strong sense of community. The campus is a really welcoming environment, and because it’s a smaller university, it’s easy to build meaningful relationships with both lecturers and other students. My course has felt very supportive, with lecturers who are approachable and genuinely invested in student success. The location is also a huge positive — being so close to York city centre makes student life enjoyable while still having a calm, close-knit campus atmosphere that’s great for studying. Worst aspects / improvements: While the supportive environment is a real strength, one area that could be improved is communication around timetabling and assessment deadlines, which can sometimes feel a bit last-minute. Additionally, expanding study spaces during peak assessment periods would be helpful, as the library can get very busy. That said, the university is clearly responsive to student feedback, and I’ve seen positive changes being made over time.
