What students say about physics

I love my degree. The lecturers are fantastic, knowledgeable and supportive. I love my subject and the freedom this course gives me to explore it. The block learning structure makes assessments more manageable. The assessments are often really open ended, allowing for you to research and write about your interests. It's really helped me to realise exactly what career path I want to follow. Theyre always advertising internships and paid work opportunities in a variety of fields and they provide plenty of opportunities for CPD for free. They have lots of services such as the careers team and 121 library support which are fantastic. UOS isn't much of a party school- Ipswich has an awful nightlife. It's definitely a different experience to some of the bigger unis, but I've met some awesome people of all ages and backgrounds. I would recommend this course, definitely!

What students say about physics

Overall my uni experience has been really good. I really enjoy my course and have learnt a lot. My biggest issue with the university is the accommodation, as I think it is not the best, very overpriced and they care little about the complains students have even thought we're the ones paying to live here and the ones who need the rooms to rest after studying.

What students say about physics

The University of Hertfordshire has great facilities, but there are quite a few unnecessary procedures that could be streamlined, such as booking appointments for even the smallest matters. My experience so far has been disappointing from an academic perspective. I was expecting better quality education, but instead, most of the lectures consist of simply reading from PowerPoint slides, and the practical sessions have been far from engaging. While I understand that self-study is important, not all students, especially international ones like myself, have prior industrial experience or expertise. It's crucial that the university recognizes this and provides clearer, more detailed information about the curriculum, how exams work, and what is expected in terms of assessments. Relying solely on self-study and putting too much responsibility on the students isn’t fair, especially when we're paying for a quality education.

What students say about physics

The facilities are very modern as the university is relatively new. Full of open study spaces which are accessible 24/7. Student events running weekly. Close to multiple different stores and some fast food stores.
