University of Greenwich focuses a lot on diversity and inclusion. There are a lot of services available in relation to that, wellbeing, inclusion plans and other things to make your experience at the University more manageable/enjoyable. There are plenty of opportunities for learning and discovering and I have felt right at home from the beginning. I tend to feel like an outsider but the environment and support here has been great. I tend to be an independent worker and both during my masters and now during my PhD I have gotten plenty of opportunity to work both with others and to work by myself. This helped me develop better team working and working with others but given me the space to choose how much I want to do independently myself. One aspect I have had repeated issues with is the fact that the university's beaurocracy is a very slow progres and I have had to wait extended periods of time for replies or help with different things in relation to application, registration, feedback & hierarchical matters.

I want to study emerging economies and learn languages and it’s easily one of the best places in the world for that. There really is a global focus. The library is amazing. It really punches above its weight in terms of the staff and resources you get access to. The location is amazing. Bloomsbury is so nice. Russel Square is the loveliest park ever, It’s a small campus uni but we get access to all of london around us so it doesn’t feel small at all. People at SOAS are very nice, but not necessarily as outgoing as other unis. But you’re in london so you don’t really have to worry about that to be honest: If you don’t make many friends here, there’s many other unis nearby. However I will say that it’s definitely not very diverse in terms of politics. Most people here are extremely left wing and students and staff don’t respond very well to dissenting ideas. Even though it’s very ethnically diverse, most students have extremely similar worldviews and ways of approaching things, which isn’t ideal for intellectual exploration.

The intimate, smaller groups definitely allow you to get a better view and understanding of the subject matter and the industry professionals that get bought in to help are brilliant. The course is also good but what I would say to anyone looking at the acting course is that, while the course itself is brilliant and you will absolutely take a lot of important lessons away from it, don’t expect a whole lot more offered outside of that, specifically to the acting side. All of the other events, talks and masterclasses whilst I have been here have been, whilst intriguing, educational, engaging and useful to expand your knowledge of a film set and more of the production side of things, entirely aimed at the filmmaking students. It also can feel at times that filmmakers and screenwriters get more priority in a lot of ways like locations on campus for assessments and equipment availability. That said, the course alone, the teaching style with the professionals bought in make it absolutely worth your consideration.

It has amazing facilities for recording and rehearsing and is open all year round through summer and holidays if you want to work on anything for yourself or for the courses. It has two studios, lots of mac suites with access to logic pro and production software. It has an amazing community of people and everyone gets along with everyone including the staff who are great to talk to. Staff all have a wide range of experience in the music industry and can give valuable advice and support with your studies and futures outside of ACM. They help with opportunities and live performances and are always happy to help with mental health and well being if you are struggling with their wellbeing team!

Stuck in the heart of London, LCCM was amazing for a budding musician like myself. I found the location incredible, as I didn't feel stuck within a university campus. The tutors are all full time musicians, and have tons of experience within the business. I would highly recommend this course! It was the best three years of my life.

My experience at BIMM University has been a mix of inspiring and frustrating. The best part is being around so many creative, driven musicians, it really pushes you to level up. The course is very industry-focused, with loads of chances to perform, collaborate and network, and most lecturers actually work in the industry, which helps. On the downside, organisation and communication can be a bit messy at times, especially around assessments. It’s also not super academic. Overall, it’s great if you’re self-motivated and serious about music, but you definitely have to take initiative.

Overall ICMP definitely shaped me into the musician that I am, one of the biggest things I love about it is the community. I feel like you could be around such great musicians but community also needs to be a big part of that and I feel like I made friends for life and there are teachers that inspire me so much.
