Music Technology degrees in Central England

One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the supportive and engaging learning environment. Many of the lecturers are genuinely passionate about their subjects and approachable outside of class, which makes a big difference when you need help or want to explore topics more deeply. The range of resources available—such as libraries, online materials, and study spaces—also makes it easier to stay on top of coursework. Additionally, the social side of university life stands out, with a wide variety of clubs and societies that help you meet people, try new things, and feel part of a community. That said, there is still room for improvement. Communication can sometimes be inconsistent, particularly when it comes to timetable changes or assessment feedback, which can be frustrating. In some cases, feedback on assignments could be more detailed or returned more promptly to better support learning. Improving organization and communication across departments would enhance the overall experience and make it an even better place to study.

Studying at Birmingham City University in the Curzon building is great because of the modern facilities, comfortable study spaces, and central location, which makes everything convenient. It could be improved by adding more quiet study areas during busy times and better communication about timetable updates.

I love the support and population diversity. No discrimination and lovely place. The improving part, should be the student housing. They should be available during weekends. Can in Friday evening and now had to wait till Monday but they are nice. Also be price a bit much that chelmfords campus . I’ll let you on if I notice another thing cause I’m new here

My tutors are so helpful and available when needed and the support they provide I am very helpful for. The facilities at the university could be better. Studying a course that needs a computer suitable to hold cad software means there are limitations on where this is possible. The library is limited to roughly 16 computers with this software on and sometimes not all of them are working. Library is also not 24 hours anymore and is shut / reduced hours on bank holidays and christmas

Best experiences Going back to University at the age of 40 and committing to 3 years of studying was quite daunting, the University of Derby is a state of the art facility catering for a wide range of subjects. I have been impressed with the size of the University, giving plenty of room for class rooms, training areas and sports fields outside. The different areas of the campus are clearly signed making it easier to learn your way round, this has made the transition on coming again much more comfortable. The tutors I have had contact with have been supportive, professional, down to earth and have made the educational material fun and relatable. Worst experiences Pebble pad and library inductions were long winded and confusing, I understand that there is a lot of information to give and it needs to be done at the start of our studies, but this may need addressing to make more relatable and easier to absorb as a new starter,

One of the best aspects of studying at De Montfort University is the supportive and diverse environment. As an international student, I feel welcomed and included. The university has strong student support services, especially the Disability Advice and Support team, who are understanding and helpful. The MSc Project Management course is practical and career-focused. The modules are well-structured, and seminars encourage discussion and real-life application of concepts. The lecturers are approachable and provide useful feedback on assignments. Student life in Leicester is also a positive experience. The city is affordable compared to other UK cities, and everything is accessible. The campus facilities, including the library and study spaces, are modern and comfortable for independent learning. While the university offers good support, sometimes communication about attendance expectations and academic requirements could be clearer, especially for students managing health or personal challenges. In addition, more flexibility in seminar attendance for students with documented disabilities could make the experience less stressful. Providing recorded seminar discussions (where possible) would help students who occasionally cannot attend in person. Overall, De Montfort University is a supportive and career-oriented institution, but improving flexibility and communication would make it even better.

Best parts: access to loads of learning materials Worst parts: not much free activities, communication with student union isn’t great so I tend to miss out on activities which impacts my social life and mental health Also the school doesn’t provide support with finding a placement

If you are looking for opportunities to collaborate, learn more about industry or expand on your current musical ability, ACM provides the best facilities to explore these and more. The tutors all come with relevant experience behind them to help guide and cater to your musical interests and journey. Furthermore, they are always open to questions and providing feedback to ensure you are progressing in the best manner. I am currently a second year undergrad songwriting student and can confidently say that my songwriting ability and confidence, from when I started as a foundation student at ACM, has significantly improved over the course of three years. I think something that is still being improved upon at ACM is it's social media presence and outreach to provide more exposure for this incredible uni as well as the talented and hard-working student community. My best advice for anyone considering studying here is to fully take advantage of everything that is available to you because as with anything in life - action gives you results. Ultimately, ACM is an amazing platform to get your foot into the industry environment but you won't get the results you may be looking for without your contribution to your learning and the community. Overall, my experience at ACM has been wonderful and I would definitely recommend this uni to anyone that is looking for a foothold and growth in the music industry!
