Studying molecular biology

As a molecular biology student you’ll be focusing on the building blocks of life – cells and molecules. You’ll learn about topics such as chromosomal structure, molecular genetics, biotechnology and molecular cell biology. The field is relatively new, so breakthroughs are happening all the time, making your degree even more exciting. Molecular biology has successfully been used to assist in the treatment of diseases and genetic conditions. There are also postgraduate opportunities in molecular biology. Many graduates end up working in fields including hospital research, research institutes and diagnostic laboratories. Many also get doctorates and may go on to teach.
