Best - Love the fields and the lake - great lecturers - my course structure and content is great - great people very friendly - societies and sports are decent - public transport is decent - Y2K is good - bar is good atmosphere, great music, pool, kareoke, etc Worst - a lot of buildings seem run down and un used - when I first got here the amount of admin I had to do to set everything up was so annoying and long - Norwich isn’t a great city getting more unsafe and expensive - SU pints are becoming very expensive - construction has been going on for ages - in first year maintenance were over all the time, sometimes very early on Sundays for very unnecessary reasons and sometimes cos everything was broken - the amount of 9ams I’ve had especially on Thursdays has been a pain especially given how much the SU promotes sports nights - sometimes events aren’t really promoted at all and you just have to hear about them through the grapevine - quite often busses into the city don’t turn up at all which is VERY annoying - tap water in Britten house was gross, as were the showers, could CONSTANTLY smell sewage - single beds !!!!

The University of Hertfordshire has great facilities, but there are quite a few unnecessary procedures that could be streamlined, such as booking appointments for even the smallest matters. My experience so far has been disappointing from an academic perspective. I was expecting better quality education, but instead, most of the lectures consist of simply reading from PowerPoint slides, and the practical sessions have been far from engaging. While I understand that self-study is important, not all students, especially international ones like myself, have prior industrial experience or expertise. It's crucial that the university recognizes this and provides clearer, more detailed information about the curriculum, how exams work, and what is expected in terms of assessments. Relying solely on self-study and putting too much responsibility on the students isn’t fair, especially when we're paying for a quality education.

The University of Essex campus is so well maintained, with green spaces, BBQ areas, lakes, fountains, and tidy walkways between buildings/areas, it feels like a home somebody really cares about. Likewise, most of the study spaces are very well maintained, because students and staff alike appreciate being able to access these spaces. However, some of the rooms at the University are less than ideal for learning, as they sit below ground and do not have windows. This can be a problem if you like to learn in spaces with natural light. As well as this, Essex has a distinct lack of plug sockets in many of it's classrooms, so you need to be prepared and think ahead about charging your laptop if you want to use it during class. As for the students union, Essex SU is constantly putting on events and asking students to get involved to improve the University. At the moment, my favourite SU event is the Thursday market on Square 3, where local businesses take over and spend the day at the University, so students can try something new and get a bargain. What's more, although it can be daunting trying to navigate the campus at first, the University has a variety of accommodations both on and off campus, to suit every student. Otherwise, local landlords have an abundance of house shares available to students that are all within walking distance of campus. Finally, I have to take a moment to talk about how phenomenal the lecturers in the LaLu department are. Almost every lecturer I've had at Essex has been a credit to their field, performing research, or otherwise teaching in a manner which maintains learning languages is a multidisciplinary venture with a lot of different topics you can use as vehicles to acquire more advanced language. Honestly, I never thought I'd be a campus uni kind of person, but Essex felt like home the moment I walked on campus, so I'd emplore anybody considering this university to come and visit, because it really is a phenomenal place.

I come from Madagascar, an island located in the Southern African region in the Indian Ocean. In my country, English is the third language, with French as the second, and Malagasy as our local official language. Additionally, Madagascar is one of the most underdeveloped countries in the world. I earned my Master's degree in Theology from our national theological faculty before pursuing a second Master's level course at the Cambridge Centre for Christianity Worldwide (CCCW). I am deeply grateful and honored to have been admitted here, and I extend my thanks to the CCCW Board for this opportunity. My journey at CCCW has been marked by several meaningful experiences: Despite my background, I have never felt excluded. I am welcomed as part of the community, and my classmates are genuinely understanding and supportive. English proficiency is required for students from countries where English is not the first language. I am deeply thankful to my professors and classmates for their patience, as they recognize both my efforts and my progress in achieving academic-level English. I have never felt judged, and I am committed to improving daily. Lastly, the support, guidance, and attention from the professors have been invaluable. I truly admire their dedication and the advice they offer as they assist us throughout our studies.
