What students say about medical-technology

Based on my time here, the University of Huddersfield is an excellent choice if you're looking for a career-focused degree and a supportive learning environment. The standout feature is definitely the teaching quality, backed by the Gold TEF rating, as nearly all my lecturers were genuine experts who were passionate and approachable. The modern, compact campus is a big plus—everything is central, from the state-of-the-art library (great during exam season!) to the specialist labs, and the fact that Huddersfield itself is a really affordable student town makes a huge difference. While the local nightlife might not rival a big city like Manchester, the focus on practical skills, the strong emphasis on industry placements, and the overall sense of community made my experience highly rewarding and put me in a great position for my career.

What students say about medical-technology

One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the supportive lecturers and the creative freedom within my course. As a Fashion Design student, I really value having access to specialist facilities, equipment, and the opportunity to develop my own concepts. I also appreciate how industry-focused the course is – working on live projects and collaborations has helped me grow in confidence and professionalism. As a mature student and single parent, flexibility and understanding from staff have made a big difference. The sense of community within the course is very motivating, and I feel encouraged to push my ideas further.

The best aspect of my university experience has been the practical and future-focused nature of my course. Studying Managing AI in Business has helped me understand how AI applies to real business problems, which aligns well with my background in accounting and my career goals. I also appreciate the supportive lecturers and the diversity of students, which makes discussions more insightful and global. However, one area that could be improved is communication and organisation around assessments and feedback timelines, as clearer guidance would reduce student uncertainty. Additionally, more hands-on workshops, industry guest speakers, and career support specifically for international postgraduate students would enhance the learning experience even further. Overall, it is a good place to study, especially for students interested in combining business with emerging technologies, but stronger academic support and more practical engagement opportunities would make it even better.

What students say about medical-technology

There are excellent lecturers and student support services (particularly academic skills). The campus has a good feel and has a lot of outdoor seating which will be nice when the weather is warm. Lecture rooms are good but the seats are very uncomfortable. There is little impact from the students' union, for example there was no 'refreshers fayre' for January intake students, which also impacts the student life score.

It’s pretty. I wish they improved more of the facilities in architecture school. Our studios are quite dirty from pervious students so it’s not fair for new students to have a dirty studio when they walk in. Other than that the gym is great but Northumbria has a pool and a sauna and even a climbing wall

Best is socials! I’ve joined the swimming club and the team are great, lots of training available with good coaches and fun nights out. I’ve made so many friends. Worst is the food in campus is quite expensive. There are free breakfast schemes sometimes but not enough and the cafes aren’t really subsidised.

One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the academic challenge and the way the course encourages critical thinking rather than simple memorisation. Studying Law has pushed me to analyse complex cases, question legal principles, and engage with real debates about justice and power, which has made the learning feel meaningful and intellectually stimulating. The lecturers are knowledgeable and clearly passionate about their subjects, and seminars provide a supportive space to discuss ideas and develop confidence in expressing arguments. The university is also a great place to study because of its welcoming atmosphere and the vibrant city environment, which makes student life enjoyable and balanced. However, the experience could be improved by providing more consistent feedback on assessments and clearer guidance on expectations, as this would help students feel more confident about their academic progress.
