The supervisors, Phd office, students and the university itself have been wonderfully supportive. It is easy to criticise minor issues or those beyond the universities control, but overall it is just a great place to be and study. The Students Union could improve the way it deals with people as I did not find them particularly supportive, but then maybe I caught them on a bad day. I will still give them 4 stars since they mean well.

One of the best aspects of Cardiff University for me would have to be the Center for Student Life building and its facilities with it having the newest and largest lecture theatre on campus as well as providing dedicated prayer rooms. One thing that can be extremely improved on is the timetables, for instance on a multi lecture day instead of having lectures directly after one another or at least an hour apart almost all of them are 2-3 hours apart which is completely inconvenient as it sometimes prevents me from going home and coming back due to weather conditions which results in me wasting 2-3 valuable hours of my day waiting instead of having already completed my lectures and gone home.

Close knit community, good library and student union. Friendly staff and nice campus Assignment deadlines sometimes aren't spaced out enough. Hard to balance workload with other responsibilities and leads to a lot of stress. Some courses also don't get reading weeks

I think the university has a lot of good societies and clubs for students to join, making it easier to meet people and make friends. All the lecturers and staff are really engaged in our learning, they want to support us to do our best and try to make adjustments to the course/assignments where they can to help us. I do think the buildings could be better for people with disabilities, such as more automatic doors, ensuring lift maintenance is a priority and putting card scanners for doors in a accessible location. I also think it would be good if there was options to pick up extra modules or tutoring for those that need help with English or want extra help/studies on certain elements of their course or want to learn something new on the side.

Sustainability is a hot topic in current affairs due to the climate crisis, and more and more people are turning to careers in the sustainable sector. As an environmental conservation student, you’ll be learning about the fundamentals of environmental science along with skills such as data management, human environmental impact, how ecological systems work and how to monitor species and habitats. After your degree, you’ll have lots of options for postgraduate study should you wish, or you can go into the world of work. Common career paths for graduates of environmental conservation degrees include ecology officer, programme co-ordinator, conservation officer and education and outreach officer. Many graduates of these degrees opt to work within the charity sector.
