Best - the activities that the student union put on. The free shuttle bus and safe taxi scheme Worst - the fire alarm going off at 7am on a weekday. Being in lectures for two days a week and the days being very long

The uni itself seems alright but the student union really seems to do all the work when it comes to student satisfaction. My tutors are great and so are the facilities but I dont think I am aware of everything I can get to help me or experience wise. I also don't think that we need as many apps as we use for lessons, I think of everything was just on teams or Google classroom it would be easier but it's spread out between multiple apps and it doesn't feel very user friendly. I love the student union and the fact that the buildings are all close together.

I'm currently studying BSc animal behaviour and welfare at Myerscough, the campus is lovely and the lecturers are all really understanding and helpful. The only downfalls are that the location isn't close to the town centre so it can be difficult to get to shops if you don't drive (there are buses though).

Location is ideal if you travel by train, as the train station is literally on the door step of the uni! The main campus is large, split over 2 sites across the train tracks, health and clinical courses are taught at the Mary Seacole and allerton buildings. Both very well equiped and large enough to accommodate the large cohort. Amazing facilities including xray and CT machines. The library is always open and loads of small quiet places to stay, socialise and study. This is a big campus and can be over whelming, however this is helped by good planning of rooms and common rooms across both campuses.

Lancaster University’s campus has everything you need when living in university accommodation, however it’s location is a downside as it takes 20-30 minutes to get into town to go shopping. Accommodation is nice, I am in Cartmel and lived in a flat of 8 with an en-suite bathroom. The kitchens and rooms are reasonably spacious with plenty of storage. Downside of en-suite bathrooms is that they flood quickly and drains are blocked easily.

I have really loved my time at Manchester and although it wasn't my first choice, I am glad I came here. Any issues are definitely more at the institutional level, with individual faculties generally being really great. It is a shame to see the way the faculties and academic staff are let down by the poor organisation of the uni as a whole; it is on this basis that I wouldn't definitively recommend. I think a lot of aspects of my enjoyment of the experience have probably been in spite of the university as an overarching institution, rather than because of it. If you are someone who feels they need a lot of individual support, I'd probably discourage you as from what I've seen and heard it is quite poor.

The teaching is extremely high quality. Before coming to Bolton, I spent two years at Swansea University, and the quality of teaching at Bolton far exceeds Swansea. Largely due to financial issues, its difficult to properly experience the student life, though from other students whom are more active, it seems fairly lively. Being a first year degree apprentice, the pay is not great at £7.12 an hour, which had been a huge concern at multiple points during my time with the university, however, the support from the university and the lecturers has gone above and beyond for me. With regards to improvements, this could be done through simply making the course sign on process easier and more linear for apprentices, as currently the use of Aptem and Moodle as two separate methods of adding students to the course makes it quite convoluted. There is also an obscene number of papers to sign. Though, that being said, the university has consistently asked for feedback, and is seemingly taking on board students concerns, which is very positive. Bolton University is also located extremely ideally for students who travel in from around the UK, only a ten minute walk from the station. This convenience, and the plethora of local food shops and take aways make it very easy to keep a healthy lifestyle, even if you don't have time to make lunch in the mornings. Though my experience of Bolton university has been short, I am very excited with my future prospects and continuing my education at the university.

For a country and land based college the facilities are very good. Lecture theatres and library modernised and fit for purpose. Clean, well ran and well kept indoor and outdoor areas. Plenty of car parking spaces for day students. Has it's own zoo, farm and kennels, perfect for animal sector students. Study pods can be booked for meetings and studying. Set on the edge of a town, close to amenities but still in the country not rural. The right lecturers really put a lot of effort into supporting and getting to know students but this isn't consistent across all lecturers. Always student events going on on campus but nightlife in the town is there but nothing amazing.
