i love the facilities at this uni, the library and the teaching is great. there are many places for all types of students ,quiet or not, to go and the nightlife in the city is prety decent. it is quite affordable compared to other universitys close by. the societies are fantastic aswell. the university could improve on certain teaching aspects in the first year to ease us into how very independant it all is

I am a remote learning student. I think there isn't as many interactive online sessions as I would have expected and the sessions there isn't a lot of class collaboration between students. However, support at university has been second to none, whenever I have got in touch with a department I have received a response within a working day.

WIFI is absolutely awful and there are many dead zones around campus. How can a top-level engineering university provide such poor internet connection, especially when all of our assignments are internet based and due online? I am constantly searching for places around campus with any useable connection and the VPN speeds when you're off campus are just unusable. It's the year 2024. How have we not figured this out yet? It's absolutely unaccusable. You have the money to build an entire new campus, but can't fix the internet at your main campus? Awful.

I attend UOG Francis Close Hall campus and it's so incredibly inspiring. It's a great oldy-worldy historical site and it was really the deal-breaker for me choosing UOG; although my course mates and I were severely let down when we were told we would have to move to Oxstalls campus in Gloucester... we managed to get the union involved but only managed to get it pushed back a year for us, all new students in September for social science will be in Oxstalls and won't get to experience the beauty of FCH. Such a shame. Despite this, the facilities are amazing, staff are equipped with great knowledge and are all incredibly friendly. All students are friendly and light-minded, it's a great environment to study in and socialise. I commute so I cannot speak on the social side of student accommodation and/or going out, but as a commuter it meets all my needs! I really recommend studying here, the lecturers know what they're talking about, and are amazing at illustrating theories and concepts in ways that make sense.

The sustainable drive of the University - Reading Uni is well known for being drivers for environmental change whether that be the stunning green campus, running on renewable energy, leaders in environmental research, and opportunities for the new Global Sustainability Leaders Scholarship. Given my course, the fact the Uni aligns the same principles of positive environmental change was important to me. Often overlooked, but the connectivity of Reading by bus is incredible. It makes shopping, evenings out, and just generally getting out and about really easy as a university student who can't keep a car on campus. The Library is large and really well equipped for study, group projects, and a social café downstairs (although the PCs need drastic improvements to run our GIS software in the Library). The social life on campus - whether you drink or not (like me) there is something for everyone, there are so many wonderful societies to choose from to join (or even run). I have met so many wonderful people through societies - in fact the general vibe of Reading students and staff is so positive and welcoming. In terms of improvements - more student events other that just societies and clubbing would be nice (eg. open mic nights). Some buildings on campus do look a little run down, and other universities do have more advanced facilities than in Reading, but none as green :)

One of the best aspects of my university experience is the diverse and welcoming environment. As someone who came from Bangladesh, I was initially worried about adjusting to a new country, but the university has made me feel included and comfortable. Meeting students from different parts of the world has been a great experience, and it has helped me grow both personally and academically. Another great thing is the campus itself. It is modern, well-equipped, and provides a good environment for studying. The location is also very convenient, which makes daily life easier for students. The support services are helpful, especially for international students, but sometimes it can take time to get responses or appointments during busy periods. Improving response times and making support more easily accessible would make the experience even better. Overall, the university provides a positive and inspiring place to study, with a strong focus on student development and real-world skills. I am happy to be part of such a diverse and supportive community.

I love this uni. It’s great! What I love so much about it is how close your course is. With each year consisting of very few students you really become a family whereas, other universities you rarely even speak to people on the same course as you! The student life is good but it can be a bit dull due to the lack of student based businesses in Chichester and Bognor meaning that for anything ‘trendy’ you are expected to travel to Portsmouth or the surrounding areas. What I don’t love is the accommodation. The uni has two main off-site accomodations in Chichester and both are not nice places to live. Whilst Fishbourne has better facilities, it is a cold, dire place to live. Stockbridge on the other hand has stained carpets, showers in which you press a button for 30s of water at a time, and tiny kitchens. I am particularly disappointed in the accommodation manager, when I reported a flatmate for aggressive and threatening behaviour and asked not to be identified, he promptly told the flatmate about what I had said. This issue desperately needs to be sorted out. Overall, particularly in the Conservatoire, the uni has been dealing with some big budget cuts causing certain courses to become essentially obsolete and just made to keep funding up. This is really disappointing as it means students are being admitted to a course that wont utilise their talents therefore not preparing them for the industry that they are desperate to enter.

I find the location, community and campus feel very peaceful and relaxing, and the education provided is good quality and varied. There could be more support for students who struggle to fit in with the student body, e.g., more help and encouragement to join societies or opportunities to socialise with peers.

The university has a great campus and student support is active in checking in on student’s mental health and providing support both for mental health and academic reasons. The society’s provide a great opportunity to socialise and improve student night life. However, the stud student union function more as a business than as a study body representation. They charge for hot water in the campus library, taking advantage of students that cannot afford basics as they are in need of money, themselves. They need more funding.

The best aspects of my university experience have been the sense of community and the opportunities for personal and academic growth. My course is taught by passionate lecturers who make the subject feel relevant and engaging, and I’ve appreciated how approachable most staff are when I need help. There are also plenty of extracurricular activities and societies, which made it easy to meet people with similar interests. The campus facilities—like the library, study spaces, and wellbeing services—have also been a big part of what makes it a great place to study. In terms of what could be improved, there are a few key areas. Communication between departments could sometimes be clearer, especially around deadlines and timetable changes. At busy times of the year, access to study spaces can become limited, and more quiet areas or longer opening hours would make a difference. It would also help if there were more practical, hands-on learning opportunities such as placements, workshops, or industry links, as these really enhance understanding and employability. Overall, the university offers a supportive and stimulating environment, but with better organisation and more resources during peak periods, the student experience could be even stronger.
