Earth Sciences degrees in East Midlands

One of the best aspects of my university experience has been the supportive and engaging learning environment. Many of the lecturers are genuinely passionate about their subjects and approachable outside of class, which makes a big difference when you need help or want to explore topics more deeply. The range of resources available—such as libraries, online materials, and study spaces—also makes it easier to stay on top of coursework. Additionally, the social side of university life stands out, with a wide variety of clubs and societies that help you meet people, try new things, and feel part of a community. That said, there is still room for improvement. Communication can sometimes be inconsistent, particularly when it comes to timetable changes or assessment feedback, which can be frustrating. In some cases, feedback on assignments could be more detailed or returned more promptly to better support learning. Improving organization and communication across departments would enhance the overall experience and make it an even better place to study.

Best experiences Going back to University at the age of 40 and committing to 3 years of studying was quite daunting, the University of Derby is a state of the art facility catering for a wide range of subjects. I have been impressed with the size of the University, giving plenty of room for class rooms, training areas and sports fields outside. The different areas of the campus are clearly signed making it easier to learn your way round, this has made the transition on coming again much more comfortable. The tutors I have had contact with have been supportive, professional, down to earth and have made the educational material fun and relatable. Worst experiences Pebble pad and library inductions were long winded and confusing, I understand that there is a lot of information to give and it needs to be done at the start of our studies, but this may need addressing to make more relatable and easier to absorb as a new starter,

Limited amount of shops in Lincoln, which makes it get a bit stale quick, but is still a lovely city with plenty of things to do. Another downside is the fact it is in the middle of nowhere, you have to get trains or coaches if you want to go anywhere else. However, it does have everything you need as a student, with a good night out as well

The University Experience was Good for me when I compare to own Country (India) Whereas the Students and Faculties in the University are well Mannered and Giving respect to each other and the Teaching is also good . The University is conducting many Events for the International students to get a Cultural connection with other peoples and this helps a Lot to get to know about the various cultures around the World

Loughborough is very accessible and has lots to offer solely on the campus, luckily it’s only a short walk into town for more as well! I do think some sort of student bus card for the sprint bus when going into town would be great as a trip is £3.

The best aspect of my university experience is the teaching staff and the wider university team. The lecturers are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed, and the student-facing staff are consistently kind, friendly, and approachable. There is a strong sense that everyone is willing to help, which makes the university a welcoming and encouraging place to study. An area for improvement would be the reliability of facilities, particularly the internet connection and printers, which have recently not been working consistently. Improving this would make studying on campus more efficient and less stressful.

The campus at the University of Nottingham is a beautiful place to be able to complete my studies. It has a welcoming and homely feeling. Facilities such as the David Ross Sports Centre and both libraries make it easy for me to complete extra activities such as netball and going to the gym, along with great places to study. Improvements involving the student union could be made, as I found it difficult to find out information about this. However, I couldn’t fault any other aspect of the University.
