The University of Westminster has been a life‑changing and incredible place to study. The university embeds employability into everything, from lessons, employability awards, and career mentoring, and beyond the classroom there are endless global and practical opportunities, even for students who may not have prior experience. Before coming to university, I had never travelled internationally, but through Westminster I’ve been able to visit South Africa, Barbados for a Microsoft programme, and Scotland for a leadership retreat to support my professional development. The university also supported me financially, making these experiences possible. These opportunities exposed me to new cultures, helped build my confidence, and strengthened my communication and networking skills. I’ve also developed professionally through roles such as being a FAN (Friend of Arriving New Students), where I supported new students during their transition into university by signposting services, offering guidance, and delivering presentations during induction week. I’m also had the opportunity to become an e‑mentor and student caller as well, continuing to support students as they settle in. These roles have helped me build strong communication and active listening skills that prepare me for life after graduation. In terms of improvements, I genuinely feel Westminster offers so much already. However, one possible enhancement could be increasing awareness of the opportunities available, sometimes students only discover schemes or programmes after they’ve taken place.

The best part of my university experience has been meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures, which improved my communication skills and confidence. I also enjoyed learning practical knowledge related to my course that will help me in my future career. Worst aspect: The most challenging part was managing time between assignments, exams, and part-time work. Sometimes it was stressful, but it helped me become more organised and responsible. If you want, I can also make it more professional or more personal for a specific form.

I'm an optometry student entering my third year in September 2024. The lecturers are very nice and supportive; however, the optometry students in Group C are extremely rude, disrespectful, and lack any sort of manners. Many of them speak poorly of you if you fall behind or are slow in your routine, and they refuse to collaborate despite knowing that practice is essential for skill improvement.

Overall, student living and studying are good at the university, but the overall support for struggling students can be lacking at times, especially with vague assignment briefs that do not describe what needs to be done well enough.

At Middlesex University London, one of the best aspects of my experience has been the diverse and international learning environment. It helped me improve my communication skills and gain global exposure. The teaching approach is practical and career-focused, with real-world projects that enhanced my technical and analytical abilities. The lecturers are supportive and approachable. One of the more challenging aspects has been administrative processes, such as fee and scholarship-related matters, which sometimes require follow-ups. Additionally, managing academic deadlines can be demanding. However, these challenges have improved my time management and problem-solving skills.

The location in central London not far from where the UKs decisions are made is amazing. The library has most of the resources I need and if you can’t find something the library staff will happily try and make it available. The thing where the uni lets us down the most is admin.

Queen Mary's campus is excellent for a university campus. Although the campus location isn't in the city center, it's very easy to get there by subway. I think there are shortcomings in technical support; last year we communicated by emailing the relevant department directly, but now we submit our requests through a single system, which sometimes leads to misunderstandings or the failure to provide the necessary solution.
