The student union is a lovely space which holds regular events, and there is lots of support for students available. There is a nice atmosphere on campus with lots of places to eat and study. A new green space has recently opened giving it a bit more of a campus feel despite being in the city centre and lots of the buildings are very modern. I love that it is close to shops and amenities with good nightlife yet also a short walk from the sea and the barbican which are lovely places to relax.bI really like that all courses are on the main campus, as opposed to other universities which have a separate campus for healthcare students which can cause you to feel a bit isolated and do not have access to the same facilities other students do. Having said that, whilst the healthcare facilities are adequate, other universities I did visit seemed to have slightly better facilities (more modern, better layout and equipment available). The uni has recently opened a healthcare building however I am in my 2nd year and have not yet been able to use it which is disappointing. The uni halls are very basic and I though expensive for what was offered, however there is a good range of private student accommodation available in plymouth for better quality at a lower price which I would recommend. On the whole, my experience so far has been very positive and I would reccomend this university.

What students say about construction

Southampton Solent University is an overall great place for students to study, offering excellent facilities, supportive staff, and a diverse learning environment. The university provides a practical approach to education, ensuring students gain real-world experience alongside their academic studies. However, student life could be enhanced by offering more social events, parties, and get-togethers. These activities would help students connect, build friendships, and create a stronger sense of community on campus. With a livelier student social scene, Solent University would become an even more enjoyable and well-rounded place to study.

What students say about construction

Studying at the University of Gloucestershire, Oxstalls campus has been a really positive experience for me. The atmosphere here is super friendly and relaxed, and it’s the kind of place where you actually feel comfortable asking for help. The staff and lecturers are genuinely approachable, and because the campus is smaller, you don’t get lost in the crowd. It’s easy to get to know your tutors and classmates, which makes studying feel a lot more personal and less stressful. One thing I really like about Oxstalls is how modern and clean the buildings are. The Business School, the sports facilities, and the study areas all have a nice, fresh feel to them. The spaces are bright and open, and it’s actually a pretty motivating environment to study in. The library and quiet areas are great when you need to focus, and the campus in general has a calm vibe that makes it easy to get into the right headspace. The campus also has a really good sense of community. Because everything is close together, you end up bumping into people you know all the time. There are plenty of places to sit, chat, or work with friends, and the SU events help bring everyone together. It’s especially nice if you’re someone who likes that close-knit, friendly feel instead of a massive, overwhelming uni experience. How Oxstalls could be improved There are definitely a few things that could be better. For one, more late-night study spaces would be a huge help, especially during assessment weeks. Sometimes you just need somewhere quiet to work after the library closes. The café and food options could also be expanded — having more variety and later opening hours would make life easier for students who spend long days on campus. A little more seating and social space during peak times would also be great, since it can get a bit crowded between classes. And while Oxstalls is good for practical learning, offering even more placement opportunities and industry links would make it even stronger, especially for business, sport, and health-related courses. Overall, Oxstalls is a welcoming and supportive campus with a great atmosphere and some really solid facilities. A few small improvements would make it even better, but as it is, it’s a lovely place to study and feel part of a community.

I like this university, everyone is friendly and the teachers are very supportive all the time. Im a young mom and also currently pregnant and the university have been doing everything they can to help me and provide all the support that i need and will need in the next few months. There are many student unions that you can join if you like being social and the facilities are great.

WIFI is absolutely awful and there are many dead zones around campus. How can a top-level engineering university provide such poor internet connection, especially when all of our assignments are internet based and due online? I am constantly searching for places around campus with any useable connection and the VPN speeds when you're off campus are just unusable. It's the year 2024. How have we not figured this out yet? It's absolutely unaccusable. You have the money to build an entire new campus, but can't fix the internet at your main campus? Awful.

I have not had any worse experience at UWE rather, it has been a fantastic journey so far since i started my MSC program in January. The environment is conducive for studying and there are up to date facilities to use. I believe there will be room for improvement in some places but i am not sure yet as i just started my program in January and still exploring but so far so good, it has been a fantastic journey and i look forward to many more memories at the Uni...

What students say about construction

I am currently studying MSc International Business Management at De Montfort University, Leicester, and I am really enjoying my experience. DMU uses a block teaching method, and they are pioneers in this approach. I find it very effective because it allows me to focus on one module at a time for better understanding. The course is highly relevant to my future goals, and the teaching style is engaging and interactive — with weekly lectures, seminars, and workshops that make learning more practical and enjoyable. The only downside is that the workload can feel intense during each block, since all assessments come close together. However, this also helps build time management and focus, which are valuable skills for the future.

the location is very convienient and is very close to many shops. However the Hallam Help Desk is not very convinient and only give info that can already be found or a number that says info already on the site(s). However the teachers are helpful at saying where to get help and request specifics. The lessons are also nice as they allow conversations between the class about the subject and leszon along with help from the teachers.
