Civil Engineering degrees in Central England

The University of Hertfordshire has great facilities, but there are quite a few unnecessary procedures that could be streamlined, such as booking appointments for even the smallest matters. My experience so far has been disappointing from an academic perspective. I was expecting better quality education, but instead, most of the lectures consist of simply reading from PowerPoint slides, and the practical sessions have been far from engaging. While I understand that self-study is important, not all students, especially international ones like myself, have prior industrial experience or expertise. It's crucial that the university recognizes this and provides clearer, more detailed information about the curriculum, how exams work, and what is expected in terms of assessments. Relying solely on self-study and putting too much responsibility on the students isn’t fair, especially when we're paying for a quality education.

NTU offers amazing facilities particularly for the animal science courses. Studying at Brackenhurst you get to explore beautiful grounds and historic architecture whilst provided with on hand experience with animals. Living on city campus you get to experience the classic uni life surrounded by independent clubs, bars, restaurants, cafes, etc. Moreover, the endless societies can take you to the national ice centre, the climbing gym or into the peak district.

I think the fact that it is in the heart of Birmingham is great and the diversity is also nice. As a Pakistani woman I feel really at home. Despite this I do feel like there are some students who shouldn’t have been let in due to their lack of passion for the subject. Furthermore I feel as though some teachers do the bare minimum in teaching their subjects and there is a lack of passion as well as a lack of knowledge in certain subjects.

Best - so much engagement, I love how accessible sport is but there’s also so much going on! The student newsletters are useful and they update ongoing events on social media frequently. There’s lots of study spaces around campus as well!

The Best thing I found is that they're well qualified and they put in great efforts to whatever they do. However there are few worst parts I've experienced, there is no much clarity in the information they provide during the classes hours, mainly about Assessments, Procedures, and a properly fixed time schedule.

I find my university a great place to study because they have so much systems in place to help and support students through university life. So far I can’t find any fault because I have access to so much learning materials and support with wellbeing.

Overall, student living and studying are good at the university, but the overall support for struggling students can be lacking at times, especially with vague assignment briefs that do not describe what needs to be done well enough.

I like this university, everyone is friendly and the teachers are very supportive all the time. Im a young mom and also currently pregnant and the university have been doing everything they can to help me and provide all the support that i need and will need in the next few months. There are many student unions that you can join if you like being social and the facilities are great.

the campus being all in one and not spread out across the city makes it lovely and accessible!! I love the aesthetic on campus aswell with the lovely redbricks. However, the med school campus is much older and a bit rundown in some areas, i wish it were as modern and aesthetic as some buildings on main campus. Also the food options are a bit expensive, we are students after all lol

Warwick facilitates study in number of ways and not just with location. The library is the first place of call, with the Faculty of Arts and The Oculus central hubs for study, but it is the community feel and social prospects that motivate studying for me. Especially on campus in the first year, the library is so accessible and more so that it is open 24/7. Apart of the best experiences is the first and second floors of the library where you can socialise comfortably and work with course mates, and then if you want silence you only have to go up one floor. However, during the days the library does get incredibly busy, but there are some hidden areas in the extension that are available, quiet and good to escape to. On weekends if you have a lot of course work due, you can easily spend the whole day in the library, with access to hot food and drinks below, with space to relax and go when you want a break from work. One thing that can be a little tedious is the searching for books, but in the end you will always find it.
