Art and design degrees in East Midlands

I only stay in the artistic section of my uni, and everyone is pretty nice. There are many things going on with societies, my campus is in a city centre which makes transportation pretty easy. I wish the student union hosted more events like their craft markets. Because it’s nice to see students owning businesses.

Limited amount of shops in Lincoln, which makes it get a bit stale quick, but is still a lovely city with plenty of things to do. Another downside is the fact it is in the middle of nowhere, you have to get trains or coaches if you want to go anywhere else. However, it does have everything you need as a student, with a good night out as well

The University Experience was Good for me when I compare to own Country (India) Whereas the Students and Faculties in the University are well Mannered and Giving respect to each other and the Teaching is also good . The University is conducting many Events for the International students to get a Cultural connection with other peoples and this helps a Lot to get to know about the various cultures around the World

As a first-year Civil Engineering student at the University of Derby, my experience so far has been really positive overall. The course itself is well structured and gives a good introduction to the fundamentals of civil engineering. In first year, we’ve covered core topics like maths, structural principles, materials, and design, which has helped build a solid foundation. The lecturers are knowledgeable and generally approachable – most are happy to answer questions and offer support outside of lectures, which makes a big difference when you’re adjusting to university-level study. The practical elements are a highlight. The labs and software sessions help bring theory to life, and it feels relevant to real-world engineering. There’s a good focus on employability too, with lecturers often linking content back to industry practice. The campus has good facilities, and the engineering resources are modern and well-equipped. However, at times communication around timetables or assignment details can feel a bit last minute, and some modules move quite quickly, especially if you’re still getting used to the workload. Overall, I’d give it four stars because it’s been a strong start to my degree. It’s challenging but manageable, supportive, and gives you a clear idea of what to expect from a career in civil engineering. I’m looking forward to progressing into second year with a stronger technical base and more hands-on experience.

One of the best aspects of studying at De Montfort University is the supportive and diverse environment. As an international student, I feel welcomed and included. The university has strong student support services, especially the Disability Advice and Support team, who are understanding and helpful. The MSc Project Management course is practical and career-focused. The modules are well-structured, and seminars encourage discussion and real-life application of concepts. The lecturers are approachable and provide useful feedback on assignments. Student life in Leicester is also a positive experience. The city is affordable compared to other UK cities, and everything is accessible. The campus facilities, including the library and study spaces, are modern and comfortable for independent learning. While the university offers good support, sometimes communication about attendance expectations and academic requirements could be clearer, especially for students managing health or personal challenges. In addition, more flexibility in seminar attendance for students with documented disabilities could make the experience less stressful. Providing recorded seminar discussions (where possible) would help students who occasionally cannot attend in person. Overall, De Montfort University is a supportive and career-oriented institution, but improving flexibility and communication would make it even better.

The facilities are awesome, particularly if you love getting involved in sport. The worst thing I’ve had to deal with is the room booking system for societies is occasionally frustrating, though they are in the midst of reworking it now. Very good, can highly recommend coming here.

The campus is very green and is just a beautiful place to study and work. There is a really good balance between socialising and work, I’m able to balance playing sport and meeting up with friends with my studies, not having to compromise on much. The lecturers are very helpful and they generally explain things well, although the pastoral and careers support through our tutors could be improved. Generally I am very glad I chose to study here in Nottingham, and would recommend it to anyone looking to achieve highly in both their career and at the same time be able to have a thriving social life and overall good work life balance.

The best aspect of my university experience is the teaching staff and the wider university team. The lecturers are supportive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed, and the student-facing staff are consistently kind, friendly, and approachable. There is a strong sense that everyone is willing to help, which makes the university a welcoming and encouraging place to study. An area for improvement would be the reliability of facilities, particularly the internet connection and printers, which have recently not been working consistently. Improving this would make studying on campus more efficient and less stressful.
