A great experience studying my final year of the BA, with professional and welcoming staff and lecturers.

Whilst working alongside my degree, the course proved to be very relevant and helpful. Applying the theory to practice and applying the learnings to my own experience has proved to be valuable and will continue to do so.

The facilities are amazing for any craft, design, arts based students, all the tutors are approachable and knowledgable. There are lots of inductions and workshops to get involved in and enable one to gain new skills.

The lectures are good, but the reading room has terrible acoustics for someone like myself who is hard of hearing, the sounds travel around that particular room in a challenging way. The reading room would be better used as an exhibition space, I understand it would be an expense, but it doesn't serve well as a lecture room. Studio spaces being given over to exhibition is disruptive to those students in those spaces, this would not be such a problem if the reading room was the exhibition space. The tutors are very helpful and supportive, the student services have also been very helpful with study skills support and computer skills support. The IT help desk teams are really helpful and patient. My head of department is excellent in responding to emails almost instantly, she is very approachable and friendly and knowledgeable on so many subjects. Overall this University experience so far has been a positive and enjoyable one.

Swansea is a very laid back relaxed small city. Many people come here and don't leave, as it's so easy-going. However, many leave because there aren't many jobs, unless you can work remotely. Public transport is not very good, so I live within walking distance of town and uni to make life easier for myself and cheaper. The majority of the diversity I see in Swansea is mainly due to the student population, I think that diversity generally is on the low end of the scale, but I come from London, so my experience is quite different from the rest of the country.
