I have studied at Nottingham Trent University for over 6 years now and love the student focus feel the campuses have. I had never been to Nottingham before I applied for the university and when I walked on campus the clean environment, open spaces and helpful staff and students really made me feel welcome. As a student with a learning disability university learning support staff were incredibly helpful and supportive in enabling me to achieve top level qualifications by providing me access to assistive technology. However, one thing that could be improved is the weekend and out of term time bus links from Clifton campus to the city center,.

As a masters student Nottingham Trent University expect you to have some level of independent study ability, this is especially applicable when you are considered a mature student. However, the library facilities are fantastic and the workshop sessions can really support you in moving forward on your course. There is a good mix of blended learning where single modules are given in person contact with lecturers and encourage critical thinking where as the dissertation module you are encouraged to conduct your project independently with the support of a personal tutor. Outside of teaching time lectures are incredibly quick to respond to email queries.

Peveral Halls had everything I needed as an undergraduate student and provided a good introduction to independent living away from family however, the accommodation is old and does feel warn - I recommend getting a matras topper! Also top tip - get a door stop so your door stays open so you can socialise with your house mates. The location of the halls on campus was good to really feel the university spirit however getting to supermarkets can be difficult and requires some planning to ensure you can catch the bus at the right time. I recommend using a taxi or going as a group if you know someone with a car - this will save your arms from heavy shopping bag carrying!

I love the facilities, really builds you up to become independent. If you put the work in, you get the results. As it's a very competitive subject, it's hard to get a placement or job after. Employability lectures are poor and make you feel as though you have never had a job. Id rather have facility support given and to use in my own time to network and find work. All staff are amazing within the campus and course, I have learnt a lot.
