University rating
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
I really like my life at the university so far. I have made friends and I have learned a lot of new things such as how is leaving on my own. I have done many things is just two months here and I am happy for that. I have a lot of fun and also I do my coursework so everything is ok.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
They are very good. The university counts with the catalyst, one of the best buildings for students in which you can study, find a lot of books, borrow a computer, print, etc. In addition, you can talk with accommodation, student finance, and some others just asking for them in the help desk inside the catalyst. Also, there is the gym, which have a swimming pool, a lot of classes like yoga, etc. Another important building is the hub, where people have their breakfast, lunch and dinner. It has different shops to eat in as Starbucks, etc.
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
Tutors are so good, they help you a lot of you are stuck in something or have problems in your life. About feedback they say that maximum they can take 4 weeks to mark your coursework but sometimes it takes less time. Regarding the personal life, if for example, you are under 18 when you go to the university, there will be a person assigned to you that will look after you so if you need anything or something wrong is going on they will help you. Everytime you need help, you just have to call for an appointment and they will help you with everything they can.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
I think the Student' Union makes the university more fun because of the activities organised. Every day is something going on in any part of the university and it helps with meeting people and making friends as well. I don't get involved with them in regards to come up with new activities, but I do go to some activities organised by them.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
The city life is really good, every Wednesday there is a party at the SU Bar, which is inside the university, next to the Subway. On Fridays there is the karaoke night where always there is a lot of people singing and dancing and having fun.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
There is a huge range of clubs and societies at the university. You can always find something suitable for you. If you like to do some exercise you can join the gym, if you like sports you can join one of the teams of the university, if you like to dance there is the dance society, if you like anime, there is the anime society waiting for you, and more like these ones. If you just like to chill, join the society which consists in watching movies and eating.
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
Things I like about my course is that the professors always put the slides in blackboard so we can look at it before the class. Another good point is that every courswork I have to do is explained in blackboard and if you have any question you can ask and the teacher will help you. The only thing I don't like is that you will not know the date of the exam until four weeks before it.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
12
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
I always receive emails from the careers department about jobs and helps that the university offers to the students. There are lots of jobs to do at the university as well such as tutor mentor, tour guide, etc. I think that the university is a good place to look for help if you need to work. The university also organizes some talks about different jobs which are open and free for all students.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
I live at the university halls. My accommodation is the most cheapest one but still is good. We have a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, a desk with its chair and the bed. In addition, there is a sink in the room which is very helpful sometimes. The bathroom and the kitchen are shared by all the floor but everyday from Monday to Friday, a person comes to clean it so is always clean. About the halls I live in, I like the position because is near all my class buildings so it has another point for me.
