York is a lovely place to live and study. The city has so many historical sites and places to visit and explore. York St John University is a friendly , welcoming place. The tutor’s are professional, approachable and generally pretty good company, making subjects very interesting when teaching. There are some drop in events for mature students like myself but unfortunately these are on on a day that I cannot attend so maybe alternatively dates would help to include everyone who would like to attend these. I have been very pleased so far though with the University experience.

Best aspects: reading and studying books and creative writing, plus practicing writing techniques. Learning about history and other genres that I may otherwise not reach for. Worst bits: I haven’t really found any yet. Being a bit older it takes some adjusting to a younger environment on the whole but I’m comfortable with young people having children of a similar age. Being accepted as an older student is still important. Saying that , the majority of the students that I am studying with are great and I’m feeling less conscious of any age gap. After all we are all there for pretty much the same reasons.

I can study lots of new things. As for worst thing, my accommodation is so worse. I even wasn’t given chance to decide my flat.

My course is so great. All students are very active.
