Although I moved out of the area I still chose to remain at Teesside university instead of travelling because of the support from the lecturers. There could be some improvements with accommodating for my travel as I was convinced to stay by the staff and was under the impression they would help to make my class times as close as possible however this is not something that’s possible a lot of the time due to overlap with lessons and timing

Well equipped - lots of new buildings and renovated library

There is a walk in counselling service and an appointment based counselling service available for all students. The staff are extremely helpful and I was recommended this service after a meeting with my personal tutor. Personal tutors are assigned to each student and are available to discuss a range of problems from personal to career based and I have had a great experience with mine. If they’re unable to help you themselves they will always find the appropriate person to refer you to.

No - I don’t live in the area and travel an hour for university so don’t frequently visit.

I moved out of the town that Teesside university is in even though it was my home town due to personal preference. Towns culture revolves around drinking and nightclubs which is not something I personally enjoy.

Unsure as I don’t personally attend however I know many students who run and attend the societies and would say there are a large range for all interests and all are welcome to attend,

The thing I like the least is the way that they often bring in PHD students for lectures which isn’t an issue, however almost an entire modules lectures were given by non-lecturers and sometimes there was a lack of knowledge and were unable to answer several student questions. Also dislike the return time on feedback for assignments as these are often handed back after the promised dates which goes against university policy. The thing I like the most is the workshop format of the creative classes. It allows you to develop your creative skills in the class with both peers and lecturers which I think overall helps to achieve the highest grades possible and have greatest understanding of the creative writing skills and techniques required for the modules.
