Really well! Lots of work experience and internship opportunities.

The location is incredible! I studied on Singleton Campus which is surrounded by breath taking beaches and stunning parks. The campus and the city itself has a very friendly atmosphere and it's every easy to integrate into the local community. The campus has loads of space to study between lectures and there's a number of food and drink outlets on campus that you can get a snack from between lectures. My favourite is the café in the James Callaghan Building because everything is ethically sourced, yet reasonably priced for students. Now that the pandemic restrictions are gone, freshers week in second year was incredible thanks to the SU! The Six Nations and World Cup have also been amazing to watch in SU organised events- definitely worth going to those! There is a lot of support which is advertised by the university. The only slight downfall I would say is that the stress relieving activities only take place during exam weeks. I think it would be more useful to have these after to wind down after exams when students have more time.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my course. There is such a variety of modules to study despite the size of the department, which is taught by experts in these fields. The course is currently fully in person which I think has benefitted me significantly in developing my language skills through language emersion. The only thing I would say a weaker aspect of the course is the lack of opportunities in terms of work placements and internships because unlike many other courses, a work experience module is not offered. Although having said that a year in industry is offered.

The proximity to my lecture halls was excellent and the WIFI speed was good. There was 24 hour security on campus who you are there to assist at all times if there is an emergency or if you accidently lock yourself out. Having said that, it is very easy for strangers to get into Horton because they can just follow in a student who put their key in the door and use the lift- which doesn't require a key fob (even though the stairs do). There are few security cameras and as a result people who were not students knocked the doors of our flat multiple times advertising club nights and festivals. In terms of value for money- you're paying for the location. Although, considering all I had was a room and kitchen for £153 per week I don't think it was value for money at all. Room allocation was also poor as I requested a 'quiet flat' and was allocated one. This could not be further from the truth and was in fact louder than all my friends flats who hadn't requested one. When this was put forward to the university multiple times by multiple students the only feedback we received was 'well it's not a monastery'. We weren't expecting silence just people to stop banning on the doors at 4am when they got back from clubbing, screaming or playing Mario kart at full volume during exam time. I can't say I had the best experience. I think a common room would be beneficial for this reason.
