The library has everything you could think of - printers, computers, laptop loan, stationary vending machine, microwave, silent study floor, group project spaces, blankets and bean bags. There is one campus right next to the city centre facing the historic walls. There is an on-site doctor and Amazon lockers which are useful. Plenty of bus stops nearby to Clifton Moor and Monks Cross shopping centres and buses to the coast and Leeds. The university has lots of flexible, part time jobs in the SU, student ambassadors and internships. Lecturers offer tutorials if you want to speak to them outside class times.

Typically at university 2-4 days a week depending on how spread out modules are. York is a touristy city, so there’s local field trips to the Minster, Clifford’s Tower and the Castle Museum. There’s a New York trip in second year. Guest speakers are mainly hotel based. Visit York have been to the university a few times to talk about career prospects. One fault is that lecturers tend to reuse PowerPoint slides from previous years, so information is sometimes outdated.

I stayed in Grange House (en-suite) in my first year which was amazing. Only 10 mins from university and never had to report a maintenance issue. The building has been recently refurbished. The only downside is that there was only 4 freezer drawers for 5 people, but fridge and cupboard space was good. There is no lift, so can be a pain with heavy shopping for the top floor. I stayed in St John Central for second year but there’s been lots of issues - shower not draining, flat door handle fell off and the electric went out several times because of the hob. The fire alarm has gone off a few times but takes a while for someone to come and turn it off. The location is really good being in the city centre and there’s a lot of storage space with drawers under the desk, coat pegs and a decent sized wardrobe.

Friendly environment

Course is taught in class and course hours is divided by lecture, workshop. Its most be around 6 hour per week. Yah we can contact with lecturers any time any where we want.
