Overall , the university has a warm atmosphere with a close knit community that supports each other and strives for better. The courses are varied however the standard is consistant

I believe marjon is a great place to be and have supported me greatly through some very difficult times. I feel cared about and supported and motivated to do well in my course. I would like more contact hours however due to the abnormal circumstances of last year do understand the difficulties in making this happen. The staff at marjon are amazing and will always make you feel welcome and supported which creates such a nice environment to be in :)

We need sprung flooring to prevent injury in dance and need more practise rooms with bigger space in them so we are all able to practise when required however the two predominantly used spaces, the quad theatre and the tempest studio, are great. The quad theatre has much seating and allows us to work in spaces we perform in to accurately consider proxemics. The tempest studio is a smaller space with a great sound system, great for dance and acting rehearsal. The box or S101 has great acoustics for singing however is rather small for any other rehearsal.

The lecturers themselves are amazing at supporting students with anything and often get issues resolved quickly and in a very personal based way. The student support offered is huge at Marjon, with 1-1 mentors, a drop in student support place and counselling centre for anyone who needs it. Everyone is really lovely and helpful and it feels like they genuinely care and want to listen to your problems.

This course is predominantly taught in person which is useful for the collaborative and practical nature of the course. We have 9 hours of contact time a week with tutors which I believe could be raised however the university have put extra skills sessions in place for a further hour and 45 minutes of contact time. I do think with the nature of our course we should have more contact hours however the quality of teaching within our limited hours is excellent and the spare hours we have allow for independent rehearsal and a good amount of planning and prepping and researching time. The lecturers are always happy to have a 1-1 regarding academic help and are always happy to hear ideas outside of teaching times.

There are lots of opportunities for help with the futures team for after university prospects and within my specific course, the teachers focus on the after uni section quite a lot with the instability of my industry.
