Bournemouth University is kept immaculate with numerous coffee shops and even a student shop to fit within your student budget. Bournemouth is an amazing place to be with the beach just being round the corner with pemnty things around such as Mini Golf and even shopping. The student night life provides you with a different nightclub for every day of the week with numerous of events for everyone’s music taste! The student nights are cheap and accommodating allowing you to have the best time for little money!

Bournemouth University offer’s substantial facilities for those studying media related courses. Their immaculate television studio is kept up to date with industry standard equipment getting you ready for the real world. Having lectures who have been part of the media industry themselves help provide you with support and real life scenarios, further preparing you. Also having lectures who have specialised in different fields of the industry means they can give specific support and guidance when seeking for advice for preparing yourself for the future.

Dorchester house was a lovely accommodation with decent sized rooms. With Lidl and Asda just accords the road, food shops are very easy and efficient and there’s even a nightclub/bar right next door. The train station is also opposite dorchester house so tracking and commuting is very easy. The reception are on the ball with taking in your parcels and even helping if you have any questions. The app provided with your student halls allows you to make any maintenance requests if anything becomes broken and they usually come over to fix it within 24 hours. In the halls there is even. games room with a football and pool table and even a movie screen where you can have movie nights with your friends. The only downside of these halls is how busy the laundry room can get at times

It has some amazing facilities, especially for my course. I have had the chance to use new equipment which I never have been able to before as well as incredible TV studios - an amazing opportunity. Something that could be improved is awareness around services the uni provides, for example Lettings BU is a great facility where I found my home for next year, but there isn't much promotion of it. However, as a member of staff in the student union, I know that the social media team are working on promoting the student union services which is amazing. They do so many good things, it would be a shame if not everyone was aware of the opportunities available.

I have loved most of the things on my course and the facilities are amazing. Most of my lecturers are clear when teaching and answer emails quickly if I have queries. Most of them also offered one on one sessions for people who were struggling with their. I know that there are many successful alumni who have gone on to do incredible work in the film and TV industry so I have good faith in my career prospects. We do have to find our placements ourselves which is particularly difficult and daunting, although I am only in first year so I am sure things will be explained in more detail when necessary. Contact time with tutors doesn't happen often unless requested.

It is a nice place to live and I have all I need. I feel very fortunate to have my own bathroom and shower. It is located near lots of shops (a big ASDA and Lidl as well as a small Tesco and Co-op) which is very convenient. It is quite easy to get into the building without a key card but I feel safe in my flat. I don't have the best Wi-Fi connection which can be frustrating when calling loved ones. Reception is closed quite frequently which can be frustrating. The road we are on is quite loud, lots of cars revving, sometimes late into the night. Some downsides, but all in all a good halls to live in first year.
