University rating
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
My experience of university has been incredibly positive, with many happy experiences. From being able to meet new people through societies, to be able to learn lots of new things from my course - I have had a very positive university experience.
Facilities
How good are your university's facilities?
The universities facilities are very broad and useful. From having an onsite gym, and having media studios and a theatre to access that are only a bus away - the facilities are excellent to use. The theatre especially is an excellent resource for me, as it gives the Performing Arts society and myself a professional place to rehearse and perform
Student support
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
The university has an excellent set of resources to help students. Academic skills support is always available both online and through appointment/drop in.
Personal help is also available, with wellbeing and mental health help always available. Counsellors are available to help students, in case of any personal emergencies or just if someone wanted to talk through their emotions.
Students' union
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
The student union feels very present within the University community. Often, they hold events or liaise with departments to hold events such as film nights and the opening of a new student bar in Greenwich.
I often attend these events, due to the fact that they often feel so inclusive. and also so accessible to me as a student.
Local life
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
There is a local bar called Belushi's that is accessible for students. Most good attractions are only a bus ride away, and Greenwich is an excellent hub for culture as well as the typical club scenes.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
Societies and clubs are very broad and diverse, so can appeal to many people. Clubs cover interests from sport to religions and beliefs, to performance and media. There is even a society for Tea!
Societies are excellent for meeting like-minded people - and are very welcoming to newcomers!
Lecturers and teaching quality
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
The most positive elements of my course are the teaching staff. They are always really supportive of any queries or concerns I may have and are also very encouraging when it comes to tackling work.
I have struggled with class size at times, sometimes feeling like its hard to get points across, or that these points can aren't very important, but this is something that the staff have always tried to dissuade or work around.
How many contact hours per week do you have?
10
Career prospects
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
The University is very good at providing placement abilities to get experience within the field I am in. Several times in every year I am able to teach and go in to observe teachers in a variety of settings. The University also provides excellent support within academic support skills, should you struggle at any point with writing skills, or anything to do with wider employability skills.
University halls
What do you think about the safety, condition, location and cost of your accommodation?
Accommodation is comfortable, comes with a very useful mini fridge and a desk space to work at. The en-suite bathroom is small but useable. The kitchen is a nice area to both cook, but also to socialize with flatmates!
