Best aspect is great socials sports and societies and enjoyable courses only downside would be lack of information online and student support

A lot of contact time and decent facilities some lecturers could be better

Only downside is it’s expensive but what a amazing city and better night life than expected

If your coming to YSJ chose central it’s better than all the other university accommodations and well worth the extra money

I think there's a lot of positive and negative to studying at York St. John university. Starting with the limitations - I think the University suffers, through no fault of its own, by being a smaller university. It means that there's less funding, activities, engagement, and life as there might be at a larger institution. Many teachers and lecturers have divided attention between large amounts of students that can make communication difficult at times. However, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else - YSJ is a friendly place, with a great Students' Union, fun sports and societies, in a beautiful city. My course is engaging and meaningful with challenging work that feels rewarding and valuable.

My course is thorough and in-depth, with lecturers who for the most part seem to genuinely care and have a passion for the subject. There does seem to be an over-reliance at times on group work for whatever reason, and as somebody who prefers working individually - I'm left with a choice of taking on the work of a small team by myself, or working with others who might not have the same passion, understanding, or aligning schedules as I'd prefer. That said, I understand that this is a valuable practice to have before entering the working world, where many of the same issues would arise.

Limes Court is fantastic. Geographically it's not best situated with it being, I believe, the furthest university-managed accommodation from the university and city centre, but it's clean, friendly, well maintained and easy to have serviced should any issues arise.
