OVERALL UNIVERSITY RATING
Tell us about your overall university experience so far.
I love it, it's really amazing. Very vague still on some parts but will address these when a deadline isn't looming such as it is now! But overall love my experience so far, not at all how I imagined university to be (which was patronising and really scary).
How does your uni make efforts to increase your employability (careers department, work placements, transferable skills)?
The careers department are happy to go above and beyond helping me and are just lovely people. I have had lecturers already replying to my work enquiries and setting up meetings with me and potential employers. My ambitious nature has been met by tutors and lecturers feeding my ambition and showing me all possibilities, if anything I feel I have too much to do to keep up! (in a good way). Very happy and love my university.
Course and Lecturers
What do you like most and least about the way your course(s) are taught?
I again, love the amount of information and help the university gives me. The thing I like least is the amount of generous time they give us to complete work, this has enabled me to have a very sociable and active university life and now near deadlines thinking ahh help why didn't I do this earlier!
How many contact hours per week do you have?
What do you think of your Students' Union in terms of student representation and facilities?
Haven't really heard or know anything about them in all honesty. I was a student rep and didn't know much either. I quit as it was taking up too much of my study time and was also clashing with lectures that wasn't ideal at all.
How good are your university's facilities?
Amazing, the careers hub is 10/10 and the library is huge with a wide range of everything needed for this degree. Also there are always free computers available and lots of work space so overall very happy.
Is your university in a good location in terms of distance to accommodation and local amenities?
No idea, I'm very much an indoorsy type, not a massive drinker but go out for meals and do love Plymouth but do not really embrace the whole getting drunk student life.
Societies and Sports
How would you rate the variety of societies/sports?
In all honesty, I have joined 5? now. Heard nothing from any of them so feel a bit conned out of my money although I guess it's something extra to write on my CV. Very odd that NONE have been at all active at even welcoming me to the society which is very strange.
How good is the support offered by the uni? Think both academic (tutors/feedback) and personal (counselling, etc).
As said before, incredible. My tutor knew I was having personal issues and instantly gave me a tutorial and also referred to me get circumstances for essay deadline which I declined. I really love all the staff on my degree and the counselling service were very understanding of my reschedule. Feedback by lecturers is very vague but going up and asking them they tend to expand massively so that's fine.
