NTU, on the whole, has great facilities. Most STEM departments are well funded, with great staff and facilities. The department of physics and mathematics on the other hand, are always left with the oldest facilities, only getting new buildings when other departments have moved out of them. The main building they use is twice the age of some of the students. As such, we're always relegated to outdated computers, rooms without lecture capture, and classrooms which are quite frankly unfit for purpose. It's all well and good having a uni who pours funds into development, but this should be spread evenly across all departments. Open days and advertisements never showed off the facilities we'd actually be subject to, they promote the uni as this cool high-tech place for learning, when in actual fact you're just as likely to be a student sat in a dingy classroom all day.

See previous comments. Facilities are old and severely outdated. Often unfit for purpose. The university's obsession with removing all COVID restrictions works to the detriment of students. At no point did anyone realise the benefits in a blended learning approach. The staff are convinced that in-person is always better, when students across the board would prefer online exams, and in-person teaching. The traditional approach is very much gospel to the maths department, with few exceptions. As one might expect, there is a variety of lecturer quality. Some are outstanding, many are drab and unenthusiastic (which is typical of the subject). Not always avoidable, but still doesn't make it easier for us students.

Nottingham has a reputation as being somewhat unsafe, but it's facilities are excellent. Transport links are brilliant, and the variety of different foods and cultures is amazing.
