York is a lovely place and the way the university interacts within the city really creates a sense of community. The lecturers are very knowledgeable and keep up to date with current advancements in their field of expertise, and are easy to talk to if you need additional help or advice.

There’s lots of contact hours - generally you are taught everything you need to know by the lecturers and don’t have to do much self taught work. However, the speed at which they have to go to fit in the huge amount of content can leave you feeling a little helpless and overwhelmed at times.

It’s very modern, but also homely and the college team provides loads of activities to get involved with. There’s laundry available in the main college hub as well as 2 common rooms and a multitude of rooms for staff members if you ever need to go for a chat. The free weekly college meal is a great time to catch up with your college friends!

Student support is good, and the facilities are great

Small course size so lots of contact between teachers and students. Some pHD students take some lessons and aren’t very good at teaching sometimes

Expensive, but worth it for the quality of rooms and safety
