Studying at Westminster is defined by its unbeatable London location and diverse international community, which makes you feel instantly connected to the professional world. However, the experience is often frustrated by disorganized administration and a "commuter culture" that can make socializing harder than at traditional campus universities. It’s an excellent choice for industry links and career focus, but you need to be independent and prepared for high living costs to truly thrive here.

The Software Engineering BEng is great for its practical focus; the emphasis on hands-on labs and the second-year group project really helped prepare me for real-world agile environments, and the Cavendish campus location is perfect for accessing London's tech scene. That said, the teaching quality can be quite hit-or-miss, with some lecturers simply reading from slides, meaning you often have to rely on self-study to truly grasp complex coding concepts. The administration is also a frequent pain point, as timetable clashes and the logistical nightmare of organizing group work with a commuter cohort can make the experience more stressful than it needs to be.

The best thing about the location is that London genuinely feels like your campus. Being at the Cavendish site means I am minutes away from Oxford Circus and Fitzrovia, which is amazing for tech meetups, grabbing lunch in Soho, or just feeling like I'm in the centre of everything. However, the downside is definitely the cost and the crowds; buying lunch near uni is expensive, and dodging tourists on Oxford Street gets old very quickly. Also, while living in Wembley is fun with Boxpark and the stadium right there, the 30-40 minute commute into Zone 1 does drain your energy (and bank account) over time, especially during rush hour on the Jubilee line.

Living at 23 Olympic Way is a bit of a double-edged sword; the location is undeniably the best part, with Boxpark, the Designer Outlet, and the Tube station literally on your doorstep, plus the views of the stadium arch from the roof terrace are incredible. The facilities are modern and the en-suites are high quality, but the price is very steep for Zone 4, and "Event Days" at Wembley Stadium are a nightmare—getting home through thousands of fans or trying to study while concerts are happening can be really frustrating. While the gym and cinema room add value, you often face issues with lift breakdowns and typical high-rise maintenance delays, so you're really paying a premium for the convenience and the "wow" factor rather than a flawless living experience.

My lecturers are very passionate and always try to find us any opportunities that can help us grow which is something alot of lecturers dont do but here at westminster the teaching staff is soo helpful and amazing !

My course is a very niche course and not a-lot of students opt for it since its not advertised well enough the best part is definitely the teaching staff for my course they are very passionate about the subject area and are super helpful and nice :) The worse part would be that since the course is a very small course Westminster limits its funding, for my final year we had a module that a handful of us wanted to take as an option but they removed the course ,because it was too expensive to teach, without telling us and only the day of choosing the module we found out it was removed. There is a large funding issue in many areas throughout the university the budget is always never enough.

It was amazing cleaning staff would come weekly and deep clean the kitchen and the staff in general was super nice and helpful :)
