NTU provides a lot of facilities to its students. NTU always has a lot of events going on which helps students always stay engaged with something. . Nottingham is also an amazing student city, it is practically run by students and hence is very lively at all times. NTU also has amazing support team set up to support students with everything whether it be employability, health or support with anything in the course. NTU is also a very diverse university, with people from multiple countries. There are also global lounges set up in every campus where students can go and learn more about different cultures, it constantly hosts events like language cafe and well being events. In my course there are a number of facilities that students can use, Virtual reality room, app development room, robotics and much more. NTU also has multiple campuses split across Nottingham. However, university being split up into multiple campuses has its downsides. Some campuses are a lot more lively than the others. Campuses like Clifton campus and Brackenhurst campus are really isolated which can make it really difficult for a student to socialise if they do choose to live off campus in these areas. Moreover, during my time in NTU we were introduced to online classes which more or less continued in my second year. I believe these online lectures are good as you can do them from the comfort of your home however it can take away from the uni experience. A lecture conducted in person can turn out to be a lot more fruitful and engaging for a student than online. During my time in university and my course, most of my lectures were online and we had labs that were conducted offline, which was not the best idea as in labs you are to just sit and do the lab activity and ask if you have any questions whereas lectures are where you are actually learning, so I really would have preferred if the lectures were conducted in person and labs online. Overall, I would say Nottingham Trent university is a great university for students, it has a number of opportunities available for students and the Nottingham city plays a great part in making the university life really fun and lively.

My course is BSc Software Engineering with sandwich year. During my time in university, the first year was completely online because of covid, which took away from my university experience as I am an international student and doing university online was not a good way to start the year, it was difficult to meet people, make friends so it made the first year quite tough. The university did try their best, they had multiple online events going on at all times, but with covid they were not helping a lot. In the first year I had about 10-15 hours of classes per week. The modules were really fun and the assignments were also very helpful as they helped you understand the material really well. It was really easy to get in touch with lecturers through Email or teams. They would always reply really fast and get in touch with you when you needed them. In my second year, the university turned from online to a blended learning as lockdowns were finally lifted and students started slowly easing back into their life. However, we had most of our lectures online in second year which was not very nice, as I believe in person lectures are a lot more efficient, students can engage a lot better and get to know other coursemates a lot better but we had most of it online and the labs were all offline. I would've preferred them to be the other way round as lab work is posted online and we are just supposed to do them every week so this being online would've made more sense as in on campus labs we would just be sitting on our PCs and doing the lab work and asking questions if we have any. I believe this definitely took away from my personal university experience that I wanted to get as this made it difficult to meet people and make friends in university. As per my course in second year, the course itself was really nice and engaging, there were multiple group projects and a lot of unique modules to choose. Lecturers provided us with a lot of material and we also got introduced to a lot of new softwares and programming languages in this year. The assignments were the best part of second year, they were all really fun to do and they were pretty much like real world projects. I believe the assignments will make it really easy for me to do work in an industry as we in university would follow the same procedures with projects as people would in the industry. As per now, I was able to secure a sandwich placement and I would be preparing for that, and I am looking forward to coming back to NTU again in my third year.

The city is absolutely amazing, it is a very diverse city. It is student run with tons of opportunities available. It is really lively at all times and there is always something fun to do. The public transport is really nice , there are buses, trams, trains, e-scooters. The city is spectacular and feels like home. As an International student it is great to see the city so diverse.
