I think the campus look with the loch and the setup from teaching to the accommodation bit is what attracts many home and also international students. Including the large variety of sports and societies enables students to build a strong social life and form connections with people from different backgrounds. One thing I think could be improved on is making academic support more accessible to students from international backgrounds or people with learning disabilities. Like for instance offering grammar checks or essay plan support because language is usually a huge part of the grade and students where english is not there first language often feel disadvantaged when their english grammar and way to write is not as academic and eloquent as lecturers may like it.

I do appreciate that the lectures are recorded and available online especially if it was not possible to understand everything in class. I like the criminology modules especially. But I think one area that can be improved is the Criminology and Sociology course. I, as many others know that the two subjects are largely connected but there is a heavy focus on the sociology part, even with criminology modules it always heavily connects back to sociology. Many of us would appreciate a more focussed criminology aspect like a policing or victimology course without necessarily sociology being a focus.

I stayed in sort of three different types of halls. Andrew Stewarts Hall was the lowest category but I was satisfied with it being ensuite but due to the location of my room on a floor with only three rooms and my flatmates never being in the hall. I did not always feel safe. It was also carpet which is not the most hygenic and smelled at times. The other two accommodations I really enjoyed as I lived with lovely people and although one was in town it had its advantages. I do think the cost of these accommodations are very high and oftentimes international students have to live in student hall so the accessibility is rather negative.

Classes are all different times and days of the week, would want a timetable given to me rather than trying to work out when I can take classes. The uni is very helpful but more seating to study would be helpful.

I haven’t yet got to start my main module for my course and I am in 2nd year. A good range of optional modules to pick.

You don’t know who you are living with but is good to get to know new people from different backgrounds. Problem with age differences as there are big age gaps.
