This uni has given me many opportunities to make friends whilst also learning towards a career in a certain subject. The work and life balance I have had in the past 3 years have been wonderful, although there were things such as deadline allocation which I think could be improved. For example, spacing out the deadlines more rather than have in them all fall in the same month. It could greatly reduce the stress many students feel if the uni didn’t give 6 deadlines in a month rather than 2 deadlines every other month. In terms of the facilities I would say there were decent facilities in terms of my course specifically I can’t speak on behalf of other more hands-on courses. Furthermore, I feel like I wasn’t able to fully experience the uni the best I can due to 2 years of my experience being during the pandemic era, which made it difficult to assess the lecturers teaching styles along with the tutors because some things were understandably out of their control. I feel that the idea of lecture capture and pre recorded material is a great idea and should be constantly improved, for example the audio of the lecture recordings, as sometimes it’s hard to hear what the lecturer is saying during the videos. Moreover it would be a great idea if seminars could also be recorded and posted to watch at the end of the week (to avoid students from skipping seminars), this is because some students have genuine reasons for missing seminars and it would be helpful for them to be able to catch up on in person seminars through recordings like how lecture capture is done. There should also be more hands on/ work experience type opportunities in courses for example in criminology we were given the opportunity to visit a court case, however we didn’t really have other similar opportunities like that during the whole course. There was options for a placement year however I mean term Time work experience/ trips would have been very interesting and motivational if there were more of them during the whole 3 years of my course, sadly there was only around 2/3 of these in my experience. Granted again it could’ve been limited due to covid but it’s still something to think about.

There were some course contents that were completely redundant, in my Opinion, regarding my course and many of my course mates agreed with this, for example the future directions module. I loved my Halls however I was in block F which as refurbished compared to all the other blocks and my block looked more like gill street south (newer more expensive halls across the street). I had a friend who lived in block A and she had a lot more troubles in her room than I did, for example the kitchen looked old and dusty with fridges breaking and their rooms looked a lot more broken and old than ours did. Moreover my kitchen had sofas whereas non of the other kitchens in other blocks had sofas at all. Which I think is unfair but I lucked out and am not complaining but it should be made fair and all blocks should be the same. There isn’t much security in the halls at night time and the safety of halls aren’t very high, because there are Instances when strangers can easily get into our flat without consent. Further more there were a lot of thieves during my freseshers time in halls which shows the lack of security. Moreover the washing machines situation is ridiculous and there should be a feature where people can’t just dump your washing out once it’s done, there should be a lock of some sort that keeps peoples washing safe until they unload it,
