After 25 years in the insurance industry, leaving school at 17 and raising three children, I decided to fulfil a lifelong dream and return to education in 2020, allowing me to change my career. I applied to a few local universities and was turned down because my qualifications were outdated. I decided to apply to Wrexham Glyndwr University, where they prioritised my life skills, work ethic, and determination to succeed over my educational qualifications and age. On my first day at Glyndwr, I knew I had made the right decision; I felt immediately welcomed and supported. Despite the fact that our class spent the majority of the first 18 months working online, due to the pandemic, the lecturers met all of our needs; nothing was too much for them. When we finally had face-to-face classes, we felt as though we all knew each other, despite the fact that some of us had never met in person. The passion, enthusiasm, and down-to-earth nature of the Glyndwr Criminology lecturers is something I've never encountered before. The bond they share as a team is evident in their work, which then influences the students. Mutual respect, as well as knowing how enthusiastic they are about their work, motivates us students to strive to make them as proud of us as we are of them. Having nearly completed my degree and being on track for a first-class pass, I do not wish to leave Wrexham Glyndwr, so I have enrolled in a Master's programme in Criminology for next year. While also beginning a career as a Victim Liaison Officer with the CPS, none of this would have been possible if Glyndwr had not given me the opportunity and believed in me three years ago. I am now encouraging my three children to attend Glyndwr, because if I can get this far in three years, anyone can. I honestly can not think of any way Wrexham Glyndwr University can be improved, as it really is the best place to study, along with fantastic lecturers, facilities and support.

When I first started comparing universities, I looked into what each university covered on their Criminology degree. Wrexham Glyndwr University modules stood out from the crowd. I was so excited to apply because each module attracted my interest. When attending both online and face-to-face lectures, the passion, knowledge, and life skills of all lecturers made the lessons even more interesting. They didn't rely on scripts or PowerPoint presentations; they knew their modules inside and out, and any questions were answered immediately. All lecturers specialise in different aspects of Criminology and Criminal Law, and having that much experience and knowledge on one degree explains why they are so highly regarded. Due to what I have learned in Wrexham Glyndwr University, I have been offered four jobs in the Criminal Justice System in the last six months. Many agencies, including the Police, Probation, CPS, and charities, are lining up to hire graduates from Wrexham Glyndwr University because they know the modules we learn are tailored to their needs.
