Its facilities are cool and the new ones are great to use for example the student Union building where students can sit and order food and drinks while good music is playing, another example is the study area in the main building it’s very fancy. However the uni in general is kind of ugly. There’s a good mix of people here, lots of people party a lot and there’s lots of people who hate it. Academically the content is hard but most people are not really serious about studying and aren’t that focused so it’s hard to stay passionate and motivated to study. Overall it’s a good uni to go to if you don’t want to experience the competitiveness and academic pressure in Russel Groups.

It’s a really interesting course with lots of different topics, you get the chance to learn about loads of things, and you don’t have to learn content you don’t enjoy as much because you get quite a bit of choice about what you want to do for your coursework. Even exams give you lots of choice. However at Aston social sciences that aren’t law business and economics are overlooked so the department offices are hard to access and there’s no real sense of community in the English or Sociology departments. The course gives you lessons on employability and we’re encouraged to start thinking about what careers we want to do with our course.

Everything’s expensive, Aldis a half an hour walk away too. It’s relatively safe here, about the same as London, so it’s sort of scary at night alone. Birmingham itself is diverse but Aston is mostly brown people. It’s really hard to find a part time job here. The train station is a 20 minute walk away and can pretty much go anywhere at most times.

For the amount they make you pay they don’t give you all the basic facilities promised like a working fridge or a hoover. You move in to find cupboards are broken and there’s only one fridge between 7 people. The place is not as nice as it looks in the pictures and if there is ever a maintenance issue Unite students will take weeks to even acknowledge your complaint. I’ve never had any safety issues , no thanks to Unite students just out of luck. Also the Wi-Fi is kind of slow it especially was at the beginning of the academic year.

Easily accessible location, modern facilities both physical and online, the library is gorgeous, main building is easy to navigate once you know what you’re doing, staff are helpful and supportive, and student life is amazing, plenty on on campus shops, restaurants, student union hosts events, and plenty of societies and clubs to join

lecturers are typically knowledgable in their fields and often helpful, each vary in teaching style but are all supportive, easy to contact and happy to help
