My university provides excellent academic support and good facilities. The lecturers are knowledgeable and genuinely care about students’ progress. There’s a great sense of community and the campus has plenty of societies, events, and study spaces. However, I would say the accommodation costs are quite high. Overall, I’m enjoying my time here and would recommend this university to anyone looking for a supportive and engaging learning environment.

The course offers a really interesting balance between understanding crime and criminal behaviour from both social and psychological perspectives. I enjoy how the modules link real-world issues with theory, making what we learn feel meaningful and relevant. Lecturers are engaging, supportive, and clearly passionate about their subjects, which makes discussions and seminars lively and thought-provoking. There’s also a good variety of assessments, essays, presentations, and case studies that help develop different academic skills. The combination of criminology and psychology gives a well-rounded view of how society and individuals interact in the context of crime. However, some lecturers don’t add enough information on powerpoint slides so it’s hard to take notes and revisit what was learnt in that class.

South towers is in a perfect location- right next to the gym and about 5 or more minutes to my classes and lectures. I like that the rooms have nice furniture and decent social space in kitchen. However, the walls could be improved as they are bricked so it ruins the modern look. I’m not a fan of the air ventilation system as it constantly has a noise running so it can sometimes disrupt sleep. It would also be good if the cleaners that come in every wednesday would change the sanitary bin lining as it gets full quickly and rarely gets changed .

The University of Essex is a great facility to learn. There is available plenty of space to learn, relax and socialise. There are resources available, such as computers or printers. The only thing that could be improved is some fractions of the student union, such as vteam (responsible for voluntary work).

I have nothing negative to say. The course overall is exciting, and the lecturers are friendly and approachable. It is easy to communicate with them, and they are always very helpful.
