The University of Brighton is an excellent place for student support and pastoral care. The lecturers are not only excellent teachers, but they truly engage with and care about their students. The proximity to the city also makes it a great location full of culture and student friendly bars (although it can be a bit expensive in terms of rent). In terms of improvement, certain campuses are more modern than others. While there are adequate meeting places and a couple of coffee shops, the campuses themselves are not massively enticing. Other than that, it is a wonderful place to live and learn.

All of the lessons for Psychology at the University of Brighton are taught in person, which is ideal as this is far more engaging and makes the teaching less vulnerable to interruption from technical issues. There are great lab facilities available to the students, as well as constant support with career advice and prospects. The course integrates a sense of the community through offering many chances to volunteer and links to over a hundred organisations within the Brighton and Hove area. There is a nice mix of lectures and seminars which allows for a good amount of face time and contact with teachers. The teachers are highly dedicated and often go above and beyond to find opportunities for students and bring in guest speakers who dispense industry advice and insights into psychology in practise from the real world. The course content itself is widespread and provides both breadth across the field of psychology and depth into the core topics of the subject.

The best experience about Brighton University so far would probably be the location. It has an incredible range of things to do for students. I would say the worst would probably be the student support. I came in as the second year from a different uni and I wasn’t given that much transitional help thus struggled to meet people and navigate my way.

For me, I would say the course is everything you expect it’s got a range of modules covering With psychology and criminology. What I would change about the course is placement options. And internship. Unfortunately my course doesn’t offer this and I would have to take a year out if I wanted to do a placement year
