I adore bournemouth, I transfered in second year and it was a huge difference. Both campuses are not only full of everything you need but they also have this light inspiring vibe to them. I dont know if its the cool architecture or the way everyone is so friendly, but it is easy to feel motivated in bournemouth. Across both campuses, it feels very safe. As a female student who has stayed up late in the library too many times, this is really important. (Talbot campus more so than the city campus.) I cant think of any big things bournemouth needs to improve on, they know very well how to make students feel comfortable, supported yet challenged and inspired. The only thing i can think of is perhaps more community events. They have a loveley drop in gardening event that happens regularly but it would be nice to have more of these - this way youre not committing to a society but you have the opportunity to meet new people and make a difference to the campus by planting things/decorating/eco clean up etc.

Most lecturers are fantastic, classes are all in person, and some are recorded to review later. It would be nice if all the lectures could be recorded to make revision or sick days easier. The best part of my course is definitley the freedom to delve into topics that personally interest you. For example, the course is never extremely strict on which exact specific topic you must write your coursework on, rather they teach you detailed theory and all the knowledge you need to apply these concepts and studies to topics that interest you. I have not found a single coursework or exam boring!! Somehow they strike this wonderful balance between challenging and exciting. If I had to pick the worst part of the course it would be small technical things. For instance, I cant stand the fact that in-text citations are included in the word count. It would also be nice if the coursework exam week had a little longer of a deadline - writing four essays in a week can be a little stressful! Overall I wouldnt change a thing, im very thankful to how this university has pushed me and supported me.

The cost of living and employment crisis is countrywide, i dont think theres anything specific to Bournemouth that is an issue. The parks around both campuses and the beach are lovely places to go to de-stress, though the center can be a little dodgy late at night (like anywhere). The campuses feel so, so safe. As a woman, I've stayed in Talbot past dark many times and have never felt unsafe, which is wonderful.

I’m still finding out about facilities and services in the second semester - but I do need to engage more, to be fair.
