Plymouth University has an excellent approach to pastoral care. My course, physiotherapy, provides you with a named personal tutor from the first day of the course and they remain your personal tutor for the duration of the course. The help doesn't stop with the personal tutor. All members of staff have been extremely helpful. This not only includes the teaching staff, but also the programme administrators and technical support. The university also provides a great deal of academic support including proof reading services, essay writing tutorials, and presentation advice sessions. The student support services are available for mock interview practice and CV building advice. The university Outreach team provide excellent opportunities to work as a student ambassador at university and regional events. This is an excellent employment opportunity that fits around timetable demands and doesn't impact upon workload. Plymouth Students' Union has a wide range of clubs and societies for students, including a range of sports teams and all variety of societies, including political, cultural, religious, musical, niche interest and many many more. The Students' Union provides a vibrant, affordable, and safe night out. It hosts a number of large acts and resident DJs. Overall, academically and socially, the university caters to a all student demands to a high level. With an increased effort recently to build more university run halls, more and more first years are staying in communal flats. If they cannot stay in University halls they do stay within a short walk of the main campus. This is creating a thriving student village based around the Drake Circus campus. The University also has a deal with local bus companies that provides free bus travel between the city centre and the campus in the north of Plymouth next to Derriford Hospital.

Plymouth has greatly improved with the increased local presence of the university. As a Plymouth local I have seen a massive improvement in the city centre and the architecture of the city thanks to the university.

Physiotherapy is taught to the highest level with a friendly and enthusiastic staff group.

For physiotherapy the university is seeing more and more graduates finding employment.

Increasing numbers of modern rooms in halls run by the university. However, the halls are on the expensive side for a cheap city.
