You can really tell that all the lecturers know their stuff, shout out to one particular lecturer, who is a living legend. Some lectures aren't as engaging as others, but that is to be expected. Great research facilities in my department being a Russel Group, really met some of my favourite people while being here. There are plenty of career opportunities (I'm on industrial placement right now), which I am very grateful for.

Online lectures during the pandemic were generally well prepared, with plenty of lecture recordings for those who were unable to attend in-person lectures. Lectures now are streamed so it is possible to attend remote lectures post-restrictions. 2nd year electromagnetism was taught so poorly that it puts many people off in 3rd year, which is apparently much better, but unfortunately very few students get to experience it to the point where the module may be removed due to low engagement. That being said, we have high-quality facilities being a Russel Group institution, ample time spent in labs too. Long contact hours and a decent workload, some struggle to keep up but it's what you should expect from a physics degree so I don't complain.

The central socialisation building (the Treehouse) has been newly refurbished, it looks great, but they only had the work done after I moved out so I haven't spent a significant amount of time there. They use Circuit laundry which is a little extortionate, but so do most other institutions. I got a free upgrade because the people I was living with broke into our kitchen and wrote a racial slur/threat on our table, stole our cookware and urinated in the communal shower. Having an en-suite is much nicer than having to share with 11 others, great value for money because I didn't pay for the upgrade. Belfast is a very cheap city compared to the rest of the UK, locals don't think it's worth it but as I am from mainland UK it is a lot cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. My room was pretty nice, standard uni accommodation. Relatively close to the main campus and right next to a 24/7 spar. There is security on-site 24/7 to prevent trespassers, however during the pandemic they went around kicking us out of our own kitchens if there were more than 5 of us in the room (bearing in mind the kitchen was supposed to be shared by 11, and doubled as a living room).
